Where It’s Not Safe
First thing I said while reading this too.:mjlol:

What do you think is more hood, Downtown Dallas, or the suburb of Oak Cliff? :ohhh:

Im speaking on up north cities where the hood is in the city . So in ur case disregard it.

My hood used to be:

Crackheads
nikkas on the corner all night
Fiends in the avenue
Food desert
Trash, heroin and weed bags scattered on the ground
Cracks in pavement and sidewalk
Projects across the street from my house
Pitbull fights
Chinese store in corner
Papi store a block away
Cops patrolling hardcore and posting up for hours each day
Ratchet girls fighting
nikkas fighting
Shootings occurring often

The list goes on....

I think OP meant to say inner city versus suburbs

Yeah i put it next to hood as “hood/innercity” but thanks for narrowing it down. Alot of the hoods I been to as an eastcoast dude have been in the city so if thats not the case in ur hood disregard it.

People have kids- you want the best for your kids, better than what you had. That means better schools, better learning experiences. Don't get me wrong. The friendships. life experiences and drive are what i cherish. I don't think i would have that if i grew up in the burbs. I think the key is to live in the burbs but still have a sense of reality. That might mean going to the hood to play ball or to get a haircut.

value of your home goes down when you live in the hood

that's a big if... I hope it happens for my brothers and sisters.

there's no hope in Newark right now.

people see downtown newark and think we're developing

but look at the murder rate

Gonna be real with you. A big part of the problem with your city is it seems like people such as residents and the people who don't know your city are holding on to its past negative rep and problems that most cities have. Your city really isn't that bad crime wise compared to other cities. Ya need to let go of that negative rep shyt like its cool. New jersey isn't that bad as you guys make it out to be and new York and Philly are actually overrated. Have some pride in your city. That sorry soul shyt that you newark folks have is depressing and annoying

I am not trying to sound uppity or anything like that, trust me. I had to move to a better neighborhood not just because I didnt want my kids in the environment but where I lived it was stressful. My vehicles were always getting broken in to. My house was broken in to. Someone got murdered 3 doors down. Someone got murdered and ditched the weapon in the bushes near my house (they had yellow taped outside of my front and my fence. Had to duck under the tape to get in the house. nikkas got in shootout at the store across the street and another dude got murked inside his vehicle at the next store. A 15 and 16 year old did a drive by on a 14 year old. If I told you where I live, you wouldnt believe all that happened. It was just more peace to be able to get away from all that and not have to worry about what the fukk was gonna happen on a day to day basis. Especially when you have young children.

Many single family home communities have HOA fees. Especially if they share amenities like a pool, gym playgrounds, golf etc

Curious, where are these communities? I grew up in a well-to-do Chicago burb and in none of the burbs I know, people are not paying HOA. Although, that may be made up in taxes.

Have you actually been to Newark breh? Outside the downtown and the far Northside towards Belleville, Newark is sketchy as hell to be walking around alone.

And every other city in NJ except Jersey City and Hoboken is even worse, especially Camden and Paterson.

Yes, I have been. I've been to enough cities and yeah, Newark really is no different from a lot of places. It's that with Newark, theres less talk of the tourist attractions and more of the inner city problems. I wouldn't move there though.

The same could be said about Rochester new York, Wilmington, Delaware and host of other cities. Hell, I would say Baltimore is scarier than Newark.

One good thing about living in the hood is that you don't have to worry about smoking weed since the cops have way worse shyt to worry about than catching some stoners
