So ud rather leave then help build up the community thats in prime territory.
.

You confuse location where people stay, with a community.
If people have no connectino to an area and don't want to be there, its isn't a community, there are no shared values, goals, and etc. Its just an area where people stay in close proximity to each other, not really a community

I'd personally have people do what they want to do, if you don't want to stay in an environment leave, if you want to stay and invest do so.

I'm not going to knock someone from wanting to escape a place they hate

This is a good question. Its not that bad if you're a single man just trying to do your shyt.

But at the same time it's kind of frustrating; mentally and emotionally. You see so many people struggling, people can't get jobs, people on drugs just to escape etc.. It's worse seeing kids growing up in such environments.

The hood wouldn't be that bad if you were living life in a vacuum
This post is on point. I feel like anyone asking this question, I wish I could take them to Juneway Terrace in Evanston Illinois or Uptown and they see the type of shyt going on.
If you have *anything* going for yourself, you stand out, and whether or not you are a target, its misery. The economy has also changed in such a way that a lot of what made
such areas pop ages ago are gone for good. This ain't the movies. Depressed places require massive overhauls to reverse course, and the unfortunate thing is, the old residents
are usually not in that equation.

Even if we made our neighborhoods turn around in some sort of way, the realities are some people won't be able to afford to stay, cause even if its all blacks, a nice area is going to
attract blacks with cash. What do people with cash demand? Services. Services cost money. Poor people in undeserved areas are suddenly shyt out of luck. What if fixing our schools
and infrastructure suddenly requires we levy some taxes? How many people can afford to pitch in? If black businesses come in, are the wages sufficient enough to sustain to local populace?

Why would you work in your neighborhood for $8 if a bus ride out of the area can get you $11? There are so many variables to why these areas fail, much like Detroit getting gutted of its industry.
When the money is gone, you can't just wish it into prosperity. Folks leave that shyt alone for a reason.

@BrokePhiBroke how is New Orleans set up? Are the hoods on the outskirts like some of these dudes say southern cities are made or is it inner city? If its inner city u can strike a deal while the irons hot.
Inner.

A lot of people honestly just don't have the resources man. And there's a certain mentality down here that sucks.

I've been reading books on investments and sharing my knowledge and literally no one cares :heh: one guy laughed at me because I said I was thinking about retirement. I cut him off the 3rd week of dating bc he literally was trying to tell me I'm nuts for wanting better. Like the mindset down here is fukkin retarded. Ignorance gets everyone's attention and people who are trying to make it or made out to look like something wrong with them. I miss that East coast grind (DMV) and progress mentality.

I honestly know exactly where you were going with your OP but it's deeper than just buying up property.

Getting into that housing game is really chess and right now everybody seems to know the game but BLACK folks.

Plus @Hennessypapi the last thing you wanna do is put out so much money for property on top of loans and not know how to maneuver as far as paperwork, taxes, deeds, and all the logistics people don't talk about when owning.

You risk losing your property and still having to pay loans with interest and other undercover fees on top of having to rent out a place somewhere else.

If black people gonna get into the game we gotta cover every corner.

Curious, where are these communities? I grew up in a well-to-do Chicago burb and in none of the burbs I know, people are not paying HOA. Although, that may be made up in taxes.

I grew up between Harrisburg and Hershey PA.

Almost every condo / townhouse community has HOA fees.

Many of the new construction neighborhoods have HOA fees. Very few of the old one do.

Bellevue is an old small single family home community on the edge of Harrisburg City. They have HOA to keep it from being run down and to maintain the looks and landscaping. Home prices vary from abt 150k to 350k. It's a beautiful neighborhood.

Further out in the Harrisburg to Hershey suburbs your gonna pay a HOA for newer "luxury" neighborhoods. Even if it's just 40-50 $ to maintain the landscaping. Home prices (SFH) range 225k to 600k plus

Thanks for the advice. Right now im renting. I have a GI Vet loan on the table that offers up to 450k$ depending on the area regardless of credit. Im really thinking about getting something for cheap in a gentrifying area here in Miami. Wynwood was ghetto till its cleaned up now spots are going 500k$+. If u bought it for 100k and paid it off u wouls be set but too many just up and people left. Got a good job and said fukk it im not helping those I left behind. That disturbs me. So it aint shyt till whites validate it. Its also close to alot lf ammenities. I just wanna see people do better and cherish what they already have.

:jbhmm:Do you personally know why they did not take on that responsibility? And did they say "I'm not helping" or did they make the best move to get right?

I'm just trying to get a feel for what you expect most people to do, when even the majority of white people can't seem to take advantage of the situations you describe.

Besides that, who has 100k to put down, much less a gifted 450K loan? It seems you really downplay the lack of resources folks have, and that getting said resources

takes time, and quite often, relocation.

Maybe im expecting too much people to use commom sense:ld:ur right.

Its been a while since I been in the trenches. Defeatist mentalities. Im way too optimistic for that.

But in the case that I know. My friend and his parents had a home near Howard University years ago. This was when it was still hood. It was already owned. The neighborhood was rough but it was close to downtown. Anyways, his dad got a new job and wanted to move to silver spring and buy a house. Sold that home and moved out there to the burbs. Has to commute to DC & stil pay off his new fancy house. That cheap house that had is now close to 1 mill and the area is cleaned up. If they had sat on it they coulda sold it for more or even just stay there and build. I just hate that so many people dont see the worth in their own community till some hipsters with money do. That shyt rubs me the wrong way.

Mind u, alot of these “hoods” are historic neighborhoods with flavor to them. Id hate to see that get glossed over.

People have to want better for themselves. You can't want better for them.

But I definitely feel you.

The Coli jokes a lot of about building etc but in real life so many people really don't care. That's why the people who grinded and awarded in the end earned it. Yet someone you tried to put on game will be envious and try to destroy what you built bc they didn't have the same ambition you had.

Hey if you can make it work in MIA, do it. But remember to make sure you cover your ground as far as paperwork and you know exactly what that fine print telling you.

It's not about being defeatest. If you are in ground zero, you have to start somewhere. The same people who might be open to revitalizing an area might be the ones
who will travel elsewhere to pursue a career. If your neighborhood is dead economically, and you pursuing IT or Nursing or something, does the desire to stay or the
desire to progress take precedence? If most people are living check to check, and then shyt like red-lining exists, many people can barely afford to revitalize their
kitchens much less "buy up the block." A key term you used is "common sense." Common sense dictates that if you aren't right, how are you supposed to help
anyone else? And making a hundred thou or something isn't suddenly enough to transform an area. Sure, if you can wait out a few decades(real talk), people can transform
an area with little to nothing. That assumes, however, no major economic downturns...transportation is decent in the area, favorable tax benefits to move businesses in, a
eager customer base with *disposable* income waiting for said businesses to come, etc.

My nearby area has a number of black businesses, but they aren't wealth builders. Food spots. Tax places. Beauty. Even mechanics and plumbers. None of those business however
create a product. They only provide a service. Wealth creation requires property or commodity, and typically you are in no position to have either in the hood. Again it isn't about
being defeatest, its looking at reality. There is a reason folks ask for reparations. When you don't have shyt, what are you supposed to build with? Very few people are going to
make shyt pop off while living check to check and probably near or below the poverty line.

This is the most bullshyt ass thread Ive honestly seen here in a while... Who and the fukk would seriously want to live in the hood? Why would I want the extra added worry of MF's burglarizing my shyt, having to dodge gunshot, having to constantly hear and see fights, and drama. Hoodrats. fukked up schools. fukked up neighborhoods with shyt architecture. Graffiti every damn where, and not being able to own nice shyt? Who the hell fantasizes about moving into the hood? Hell my pops moved from the hood for all the reasons I listed above. The suburbs are nice, quiet, with nice architecture, nicer layouts, friendly, hardworking neighbors, better schools, and safer communities. Not a fan of HOA's since a lot of them here in Phoenix are shytty, and becoming really tyrannical, but I see why some might like them.

Also, you don't need an HOA to live in a nice neighborhood.

Don't compare black people with white people. When white people move to the hood to gentrify it, ghetto blacks leave them alone for the most part. You rarely hear about cac whites getting killed in the inner city even though they've been gentrifying the cities for about 15 years now. But, ghetto blacks do be killing other black folks...that's hardworking, not into the streets and minding their business :mjpls: Want blacks to stay in the hood after they get money...fix that problem first.
