No kid should have to live in such an environment. I'm not attacking you personally, but it's a damn shame that a young kid has to hit the deck like it's a regular occurrence.
I agree. I was really ignorant to the whole situation.

right, but the whole city aint hood. you can live in DC and be closer to the action/poppin areas and live in a nice neighborhood vs living in the hood in NE and SE DC. i get asking why people want to move from the city to the burbs, but asking why people don't want to live in the hood is stupid. aint nothing fun or pleasant about living in the ghettoIm speaking on up north cities where the hood is in the city . So in ur case disregard it.
Yeah i put it next to hood as “hood/innercity” but thanks for narrowing it down. Alot of the hoods I been to as an eastcoast dude have been in the city so if thats not the case in ur hood disregard it.
fukk u think goes on in suburbia? The same shyt goes on in the hood everyday, and that's not in a good way.

basically you're not advocating for people to live in the hood then, you seem to want to stay in the hood as a way to get in on the ground floor of bing the next "it" neighborhood so your property value can go up. there are plenty of people who do that with their starter home or by buying investment properties, but don't no one want to live their entire life in the hood. Thanks for the advice. Right now im renting. I have a GI Vet loan on the table that offers up to 450k$ depending on the area regardless of credit. Im really thinking about getting something for cheap in a gentrifying area here in Miami. Wynwood was ghetto till its cleaned up now spots are going 500k$+. If u bought it for 100k and paid it off u wouls be set but too many just up and people left. Got a good job and said fukk it im not helping those I left behind. That disturbs me. So it aint shyt till whites validate it. Its also close to alot lf ammenities. I just wanna see people do better and cherish what they already have.
you're really simplifying things...some of the issues are things the city/state does, others are things residents of the area perpetuate and bring on themselves. like those in the hood who own property but don't take care of it, dont be mad becky bought the house next to you, made it look nice and that opened chet's eyes to what those homes could be. families been owning properties for 2-3 decades and haven't made one move to improve it.It aint about being real its about building up the community
Why should u move out the hood so they can gentrify the same place u lived and it cost 500k$ more than what u could have paid to own it for before u moved. Inner city hoods are prime real estate but I guess its only seen as such when whites validate it.

This whole "invest in the hood thing" is dumb.
If White people want our land, they will take it whether by eminent domain, rezoning, high property taxes or whatever bogus made up loophole they see fit.
Now, that does not mean you as an INDIVIDUAL shouldn't invest in neglected areas with potential.
But stop selling this shyt as a "game" that Black folks aren't privy to when the truth is we've been shut out.
What we as Black folks can do INDIVIDUAL has never been what we can do COLLECTIVELY and we have never had a problem with INDIVIDUAL wealth.
If you are buying property for the longterm instead of quick flips, then these low elevation places like Florida and Louisiana that will be under water soon and consistently experience natural disasters are a bad bet.
I also think buying property in the NE whether it be NYC or DMV/DC and experiencing an embarrassment of riches is a delusional fairytale....that shyt is dead and over with.
If you know of any property in the hood near all of the ammenities a cities has to offer at a cheap price then go for it...but in 2017 it is rare.
IMO the South and these industrial Midwest cities are your best bet to really get it in the real estate game domestically and see some break quick.
OP, aren't you Dominican? Ever looked abroad in at any opportunities in Black countries? Thats where the real money will be made over the next decade.

as for city shyt, my dad used to do development here in oakland, the city would keep vacant lots/storefronts/buildings mired in red tape, they weren't down to give them to black devlopers, black businesses couldn't get loans to cop those storefronts...but then come jane and jill with $1M cash from their dead aunt, they can buy a place cash, they got the credit and collateral for the city to sell them lots & buildings cuz they're opening the "type of business that the city needs". as jane and jill get their friends to come to the business and visit them, more people are like, we can live here. as they start buying more homes there, they FIX UP the homes - let's not forget people in the hood tend to not take care of their property, houses be like shyt. as homes get fixed up, more businesses come, prices go up preventing black people from buying in the neighborhood because prices are high. now if your issue is you want more black people being the investors instead of jill and jane, there are people doing it, unfortunately black wealth is a fraction of that of whites, so yes, more white people get to lead the gentrification charge.
I guess as an INDIVIDUAL I will invest in such. My old neighborhood (SE DC) is slowly getting gentrified and I hate to see it go . As for the bolded, school me.
Them ETGs must be sittin on prime real estateIn LA the hoods are too expensive to live in. Look at the prices in homes in gang areas South Central.

Don't compare black people with white people. When white people move to the hood to gentrify it, ghetto blacks leave them alone for the most part. You rarely hear about cac whites getting killed in the inner city even though they've been gentrifying the cities for about 15 years now. But, ghetto blacks do be killing other black folks...that's hardworking, not into the streets and minding their businessWant blacks to stay in the hood after they get money...fix that problem first.
South east DC is a hood “friend”....
Now its getting gentrified “friend” & all that cheap housing is going up in prices “friend” cuz someone took a chance...
On another note I can see why newark will never get gentrified. Who tf wanna live there![]()
