Maybe not top 5, but there was a point where he was without a doubt THE biggest and most popular rapper. At a time when Jay, Eminem and Nas were releasing music.

The fond feelings of that high point will make his moment a top contender for any fan back then. He did put out 5 decent albums btw, he just had more hood and storytelling joints than songs he could sell

:manny: All I can say is that sh*t pulls you in.

I've often reevaluated his lyrical content, heard seen footage of battles wit Jay
Questioned is it really that deep:patrice:

Or what's with all the hype :comeon:

But like them old rickety wooden roller coasters @ amusement parks compared to the flashy safe top of the line metal ones

You can feel the diference ones more authentic

Don't know if you gone live or die:manny:

Some artist communicate not fabricate
The true gritty street element

You'd be hard pressed to find 5 cats you could say have done that better than X:comeon:

i could see how someone who grew up in the late 90's would consider him top 5 but if you been around long enough and are old enough to remember a time before him, he's probably not in your top 5

dmx had timin' on his side and at the time, the streets was lookin' for someone like him to pick the ball up and run with it

but in all honesty, he never was all that to me

don't get me wrong, i like some of his songs but i never was really crazy bout x's music like a lot of nikkas i know was

Why not?

He had crazy flows, amazing story telling, and had jams, and was really about the shyt he rapped what more does he need to qualify...

he has one ok album and one great album, that's pretty much it for his career. nikkas can't even name 10 good DMX songs.
Dude did his thing from 98-2000 but that's it, and that y'all gon make me lose my mind shyt is embarrassing :scust:

And let's not ignore he's a crackhead

If he's rated lower than top 15 then you're overrating the hell outta him

:mindblown:Wtf is wrong with this guy
He between top 15 and top 20

:sadcam: Goat

:blessed:

His music is very relatable to a lot of people. I love DMX music.
Lol, I can't trust people who graduated from high school, have time to fukk around on forums that relate to DMX. Dude was a robber turned psycho.
What are the songs they relate to, Damien?

He has very few relatable songs for the average person, songs like Slippin and his "love songs" like How it's going down.

For me it's more about hearing someone who has been through shyt that few people go through. A ride that few people have been made and on.
