cause he made classic music, his storytelling & emotion in his music is kind of what Pac made.

Alot ov nikkas say this and i will agree , dmx was that space to fill after pac passed ... Not ja rule or anyother nikka just x , he had the look , the stature , the passion , and that rebelious type shyt going on very similar to pac ... I dno if i would put him in top 5 but deffo top 10 ... Noone can say x wasnt dope in his prime and wen he was hungry in this rap shyt .... He basically fukked it all up by not giving up the drugs and he basically threw his rap career away in the process ... Sad shyt man .... Now its difficult to watch him get interviewed these days hes all over the place ....

NYC black coffee tough guys aka the Stoozy Boys
He was the rapper New Yorker can point at and be like "hes real, he's hard"...I always thought it was hilarious how he had horror core lyrics in most of his rhymes, yet managed to get away with that since he had flow. He had a solid run but Coke Man X was done the minute he started becoming a preacher on his own albums, he went full Ma$e and no one enjoyed it.

plus, when he was coming up, he was better and bigger than jay-z..

He was not bigger than HOV, Jay got the shout out in one of his biggest singles

"Look at all these off brand nikkas
Runnin' around yappin' about they be holdin' figgas as big as Jigga's

it is all about money? why do people care how much money jay-z has in his bank account?

dmx was way popular than jay-z back in those days

I do think he's overrated by a lot of people.Came at a time when hip hop was depressed and ruled by clown azz Diddy/Mase.

I consider IDAHIH a classic album, tho.

The rest of his catalog is :russell:IMO....a few gems here & there, but nothing really great.Except maybe "Slipping"

That's a hall of fame level joint right there.

Next to that, "Niccaz Done Started Something" is the apex of his career IMO.

Those two tracks, Slipping & Niccaz Done Started Something are hall of fame worthy.

But that's the thing about X, he wasn't consistently great IMO.

He was mostly a 7 who spiked up to a 10 on a couple of occasions(the songs I mentioned, Slipping & NDSS)

He was hyper energetic like Onyx, so maybe that intrigued so many people.

Always thought his voice was a bit gimmicky......the dog barks, corny.

If you came of age '97-'03, I can see why you'd think DMX was the shyt, tho:ehh:

Cool, down to earth brother, to.....I met him twice out in Arizona
