Why do we associate fatherlessness with crime and dysfunction?

Since we're ignoring stats and posting anecdotes, I'll share.

Any man on here knows that after puberty, around 13 or 14, your moms beatings don't hurt anymore. You're probably stronger than her already. You might cry some crocodile tears just to make her stop, but you're laughing when she leaves the room.

That's also the age where u start to kind of "tune out" her incessant complaining and bytching. Even when she's saying some good stuff it's still going in one ear and out the other because she's always complaining about something.

Now this is the time where a boy should go live with his father, or in a 2 parent house the dad takes over the discipline. This is the age where u start "smelling yourself" as the old people say and try to square up on pops. For most men, these are the last, and worst, ass whippings they will ever get and your dad has commanded his respect so you're more inclined to listen to him and take advice.

However, due to a variety of reasons, this doesn't always happen. So if you're already living in poverty or trending towards doing stupid stuff and you reach that age where mom can't handle you anymore and there's no man around, or if there is one around, too weak to put the fear of god in a child's heart, he's on his way to that prison industrial machine...

True I should clarify

most black people have a relationship with their father and he contributes to their lives

However we still have people who come from the 2 present and contributing family life who still are dysfunctional and partake in criminality

Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

But anyone who has been a young black male, or known young black males for the past three decades, knows that we have been completely conditioned to accept majority single-mother/single-grandmother headed households and communities.

American black boys are the ONLY boys on this planet expected to figure out our adulthood on our own, without the everyday guidance of our fathers.

The funny thing about data is that its open for interpretation and can be used to prove a lot of things

but I don't have data to back up my claims but again from my personal experience most black people have a relationship with both parents

Of course data can be opened to objective interpretation but when you have multiple data analysis expanding over decades pointing to a common theme

We'd have to go back about 55 - 60 years, to the era of Malcolm and Martin, for the last period when black fatherhood and husbandry was all-around encouraged in the community.
