I agree Paul McCartney's music post beatles is hit or miss. But he is a great artist, dude was the driving force behind one of the greatest groups of all time. He's won numerous accolades and is considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time. He was able to incorporate multiple sounds into his work and had legitimate hits over the course of 6 decades.
