Why do wrestlers think this over confident douche witty heel role works?

The overconfident cocky heel is almost as old as wrestling num nuts

the thing that holds them back is that they arent allowed to actually do bad/evil things to the babyface because it would be bullying and not PG

This is one part of why the stereotype is so stale.

Another reason is because guys just don't really want to be heels anymore. Guys don't want to be believable bad guys and relish in being such. The only people who really seem to do that these days are CM Punk (who's basically a permaface at this point, so the point's moot) and Brock Lesnar (who's just kind of a prick to begin with). Other than that, it's just a mishmash of generic cocky statements, a generically villainous demeanor and playing even with the faces so they can't get heat (Del Rio's the exception; he barely does anything heelish at this point).

Everyone just does one thing. And people wonder why they only seem to fall ass backwards into a good characters and talents rather than developing those good characters and talents.

It has always existed, but after Jericho's 08 persona EVERY heel just about wanted to replicate that lol, the thing is people that made it work in the past knew how to put themselves into the role it doesn't work if it FEELS scripted.

Why dont people wanna be heels though?

If I were ever a wrestler Id much rather be a heel, seems like it would be more fun. I think that role would suit me a lot better anyways...the boo's I would get :wow:

yup.

The best heels today (punk, orton, lesnar, batista on the way out leading to mania 26) are all real life jerks or extremely antisocial from multiple accounts...

Being a heel is mega fun, as long as the material is right. The best heel is when the material flows nicely. Don't try to be someone your not, but whatever you are good at, flaunt it. Personally I for me, if I am a rookie.. I would come in all brash. Proclaim my greatness, by beating up employees backstage or doing random run in's during peoples matches. To even make it delicious, I would cover them for a 3 count and tell the ref to do it. The other guy is like :why:.

"Don't worry breh, I saved you... I SAVED YOU :youngsabo:"

:why: "I didn't need saving, I had this won."

"You owe me one though breh, consider this down payment."

Some if not most of these guys have slim to zero personality to begin with......doesn't matter if they're heel or face, they're just not that interesting. I guarantee you there's major untapped potential hiding somewhere in that company.

You wanna talk untapped potential that is overlooked and possibly some of the best heel work in the past 20 years? Dean Malenko lusting after Lita, you won't find one un-funny, un-entertaining or un-watchable promo, segment or match. It's some of the best Entertainment this company has ever put out, yet rarely talked about cause hey, gotta keep pushing these bland, uninteresting, no personality having HGH injecting homos or we have a saaaaaaaaaaaaad Vince

They think it works because it's what made Orton the Legend Killer, Jericho the first undisputed champ and CM Punk a made man. Its a solidified formula that works in this age. Its just that its been overdone. Quiet as it is kept it was working for Fandango and its working for Ambrose. Yet Ambrose adds he his own sadistic, psychotic twist to it.
