When Jay makes an album he has to satisfy the media, the radio, hiphop heads, Internet nerds and the record label need his album for the year to be deemed a success.
How about this for an exercise, all these rappers that are in Jay z class.

List the stuff they have done that Jigga hasn't done.

Now, list All of the stuff that Jay has done that they haven't.

Jay would be on my Rushmore, however, the record label on the back argument isn't quite accurate. Nas WAS the rap division at Columbia for basically a decade. Not an independent or imprint but Columbia.
