nobody can quote any data from the NHTSA or ANY insurance company to provide empirical evidence that Trucks/SUV cause more accidents/fatalities.

More importantly, OP clearly is a person who's day to day requirements do not support having a SUV/Crossover/Truck......and wants to blame you for vehicle prices increasing.....not car companies collectively raising prices.

I have 23 honda pilot elite, 27 mpg. Takes 87 and only about $60 to fill it up.

I have 3 kids. Car has 3 rows n can fit 7 comfortably :manny:
Just cause it takes it doesn’t mean it’s good for it,

That $5 you save per fill up gonna cost you in the long run

Use 91 at the minimum

They cost more to buy than sedans. They are prone to roll over which often the results of that are fatal. The fuel economy is worse. They increase the odds of pedestrian fatalities in accidents involving them while also make pedestrians harder to see. The maintenance is more on them from tires to oil changes ect.

Unless you got more than 3 young kids and yall constantly take family trips the use case is a hard sell you they're getting bought anyway. I'm seeing multi-car families and all the vehicles are trucks and SUVs. We got people complaining that the average new vehicle price is $50K and SUVs are the primary reason for it.
You have so much incorrect inclination in a single post that its funny. It’s also none of business why someone wants one car versus the other. The fact is trucks and suvs come in all sizes comparable to midsize sedans. They come with the same engines often and similar drivetrains. Only the full size pickup and SUVs are much different and they are more capable than sedans no matter the size (compact, midsize, full size). They offer much more ground clearance which is more than enough reason to buy one. In addition to more a capable drivetrain when it’s coupled with the extra ground clearance. And while many people may not require the additional cargo space that comes with it on a regular basis, the ability to accommodate the rare times when you need it without having to rent, borrow or pay for delivery is significant enough to warrant the purchase.

You like what you like and let people like what they like. fukk off.

I had a Ford Explorer because my two kids were getting older, now I have a Range Rover Sport because I like the car and prefer driving around an SUV now.

Use whatever is recommended for the car. 91 isn’t better for your car if it recommends 87. What octane you use is calibrated to the compression ratio of the engine. There is no difference in octane rating except the combustion point and using a different octane will require your engine ecu to retard or advance its timing based off that difference. All you are doing is making your car turn 91 octane timing into 87 octane. Get what your car says to get. It ain’t gonna give you more power or better mileage.

2018. I got it several years ago but I’m looking to upgrade to newer one (used though, not new) soon because I’ve put a good number of miles on the one I have now.

This is why

Video is full of bias focused studies that is dated and limited. Example being saying that just as many trucks and suvs get stuck in the snow as cars in bad weather doesn’t take into account that there are a higher amount of trucks and SUVs on the roads in bad conditions because they handle said conditions better. Or that many trucks and SUVs depending on those conditions may not be any better suited for conditions than a car is. Such as a rwd truck and rwd car are going to perform much the same in wet conditions and variances will be in relation to the actual tire, not the vehicle itself. In which case it isn’t inherently worse than a sedan at all in that aspect.

Safety as it pertains to pedestrians is accurate I suppose. Makes sense to a reasonable degree. But safety as a driver is also biased because pointing out that the rollover death rate is higher without accounting for the higher threshold of force required to rollover compared to a car that would have simply crumpled (also causing death) from that same impact but just not rolling over when it happens is misleading. Death still occurs, it just doesn’t result in a rollover because the car is likely ripped in half. Which is something we see much more of in cars vs trucks but that isn’t something that’s mentioned in this set of information. So there are more sedans that get ripped in half causing death than trucks that roll over from similar impact causing deaths but the talking point is “trucks have more rollover deaths”.

Thats why I pay no mind to studies done no matter the topic because it’s all done with an objective behind it.

If people are that concerned then get a Volvo because every other car is basically the same at this point (except fire hazards with EVs)
