Kobe's style was the same as Jordan's. Only difference is Kobe took more 3s. If you hate Kobe then you must have hated Jordan right?

Don't bring up FG% cause that isn't the only indicator of efficiency. Kobe's scoring efficiency is right there with MJ.

Career TS% (combines FG%, 3FG%, and FT%)
Kobe - 55.5%
Jordan - 56.9%

A difference of 1.4% is not sufficient enough IMO to say one is WAY MORE efficient than the other. Jordan was definitely more efficient. However, that doesn't mean Kobe was in turn an inefficient chucker simply because he shot 1.4% less.
:snoop:

Kobe is perimeter oriented and Jordan lived in the mid range to post area. They have similar moves, but their playing styles weren't the same at all.

Here's the thing about that.

And eFG% is a factor too, but your TS% point is valid. The thing is, 1.4% over long careers isn't that small.

Also, when comparing complete careers, it's important to note peak. Peak performance tells you in greater detail who was better at their best. Jordan had a TS% of over 60 four times, including 61.4% one year. Kobe's career best was 58, second best was 57.6 and he never touched 57 again (Not counting this season as it is incomplete).

So, at their peaks, Jordan was 2-3 points higher, and held that peak longer, which is notable. Effective FG% , which is only production from the field and doesn't include FT's, has an even wider gap.

Don't get this at all. Kobe's played more games than Jordan already. Its not like Kobe is only halfway through his career and we'll expect his numbers to fall later. So what if MJ's peak were higher. All your proving is that Kobe was more consistent. Not better but his career was always around 55% while Jordan was higher than his 57% but also lower than it moreso than Kobe.

And last I checked FT's are part of the game. Dwight Howard and Shaq both have higher eFG% than Jordan but you'd never say they are more efficient scorers because of how important free throws are to the game.

In the end, there is little difference between Kobe and Jordan's games. Kobe took more challenged shots from 3. Jordan operated more inside the free throw line and showed more restraint in taking challenged shots. This results in a 1.4% difference in scoring efficiency.

I really don't believe that is enough difference for someone to LOVE Jordan and HATE Kobe.

Kobe has a volume scorer's game, he's just so much more talented other chuckers that he can sustain some efficiency. But that doesn't lend itself to fair shot distribution all the time.

So your problem is he takes too many shots eventhough he's not much worse than Jordan in terms of efficiency? :why:

Sorry bro. Don't get the criticism at all. Shooting the ball is fun. No reason to hate that he likes taking shots moreso than passing to worse players. Jordan took more shots than Kobe by the way.

Is he also a talented chucker? :comeon:

:what:

So putting up 27/5/6 on 47% shooting at 34 years old as a 17 year veteran exposes Kobe? The guy just had back to back 40/12 games a couple of weeks ago which hasn't been done since MJ in 1989.

You haters really are something else. How on earth can a 5 time champion, 2 time finals MVP, perennial All-Star be exposed? At this point in his career, Kobe is only adding to his legacy. He can't detract from it.

That's all you got from that. :heh: An entire post about hypocrisy, stanhood, living vicariously through people who don't give a fukk about you and that one sentence is what stood out to you? :usure: Thanks for proving my point though.

I'm sure your analysis of Bron or any other elite perimeter player would be the same if they would putting up great numbers, refusing to alter their game for the better of team and languishing in the 8th spot barely over .500 with a team full of HOFers that was expected to be a title contender. :rudy: Once again thanks for proving my point. You could've just said "Yeah you are right." and saved yourself some time.

:comeon: the guy won 5 titles.....1 as a sidekick.....2 as a co-star.....and 2 as the main man

how anyone can question his ability to lead a team is beyond comprehension IMO

you might not like him and his teammates might not like him either but that doesn't mean he ain't a leader

results matter not whether you like the guy and Kobe's championship rings are evidence of his results

You're thinking of leading a team as in leading a team to a championship, being that team's #1 /2 option. I get that.

Again, I just find it really hard to believe that Kobe is the glue that holds the team together, in any season. If we're gonna go with "championships = leadership" then what will you make of this season? The one before? A lack of leadership? Where'd it go? Should leadership overcome injuries?

Its more like 2 as a sidekick, 1 as a 1b and 2 as the main guy.

02 ring falls somewhere in between a sidekick and a 1b

No it doesn't. He was clearly a second option all three Shaq years, if your going to look at the big picture and the whole season and postseason production.

You don't understand. Jordan made a living much closer to the basket. My point is Jordan took BETTER shots, not that just taking a lot of shots is bad. Taking a lot of bad shots is bad.

I think Kobe is just as talented as Jordan. But shot selection was the difference.

If you really believed Kobe wasn't better than Jordan, then it wouldn't bother you if Kobe stans shouted it from the rooftops. The reason ya'll nikkas are shifting the blame to Kobe stans is because ya'll are scared that it could be true. Kobe could be better than Jordan. Thats why they have so much insecurity when Kobe stans say it and its also why they have such irrational hate

I'll admit that I feel the same way about LeBron. I like LeBron personally, as corny as he is, but the main reason I hate on him is cause Bron stans try to gas him up as better than Kobe. If nikkas were stanning Melo or even Durant, who I know are clearly inferior, there is no way I would allow the stan noise to affect me. However, since I know that LeBron could be better than Kobe, I end up hating on him and shifting the blame on his stans.

Just admit the truth Kobe haters. The only reason you are bothered by what Kobe stans say is because you fear it might be true. If we were stanning Jamal Crawford instead of Kobe, I'm sure you would not hate Jamal Crawford. You would probably find the stanning comical or maybe even delusional. But there would be no hate. There would be no desire to point out every bad shooting game he has. There would be no need to harken back to the 2004 NBA finals. There would be no need to compare him at every turn to every other all-star perimeter player since 1996. Just face it Blitz, the only reason you hate Kobe is because you SUBCONSCIOUSLY fear it might be true. That Kobe just might be better than Mike. :shaq:

I read evey word young fella. And Kobe is my favorite player currently. But like i said in your thread
ve seen both primes of Kobe and Mike. In my opinion Kobe is not close.

:woah:

Its just my opinion

Why did you quote me for? :mindblown:

Where did I say he wasn't the second option?

If you're gonna argue that Kobe was a second option sidekick, it would be best to leave off the regular season and all postseason games besides the Finals. Bringing up the regular season and first 3 rounds of the playoffs hurts your argument tremendously.

None of that has anything to do with THIS thread. Why don't you go make a "Why do you hate LeBron James?" Thread & maybe you'll get an answer & maybe a plat thread too. Good luck :youngsabo:

Good way to dodge the question :mjpls:

I said eFG was a part of it when comparing the players we were talking about. So is field goal percentage. TS is the most telling in the end. But it's worth being informed about all three before a conclusion is made. If one player has a higher FG, eFG and TS, he more efficient by every measure we have.

For you to say peak doesn't matter means you want to take context out of it. I'm not talking about who had the best overall career. I'm talking about who was the better player. Over the course of years, a 1.4 difference in TS and 2-3 percent difference during 4-5 peak years is substantial and confirms that one of them took better shots, given that the talent was close.

How is it best to forget about the entire process of getting to the finals?
