Why do you think High scoring offenses rarely win the SB?

NEW ERA
Usually their defenses are rarely pushed to the edge all season because their offense makes opposing offenses one-dimensional. In tight games in the playoffs when the intensity is 10x that of that in the regular season, defenses don't adjust well to the pressure because they rarely had their back against the wall all season.

Same reason high scoring teams don't win in any of the other sports:
The game gets more physical.
Officials "let the players play" more.
Going against better defenses and coaching
Defense travels better

And with footbal it's just one game so anything can truly happen. One off game, or half, or quarter, or play even can pretty much end your season.

That's why I always rail against judging QBs becuase it's usually the QBs who are asked to do less that win rings on the strength of their defense.

You play smarter teams, teams get less possessions ... shortens the game.

The Giants in Superbowl 25 held the ball for over 40 Minutes, in Super Bowl 42 that opening drive ate up 8 minutes of clock.

Teams also take away the Quick score, they make teams drive the length of the field.

It's not just losing though, it's HOW they lose. They get shut down like every time

For example the
The 2007 Pats scored 14 points, and only had 7 with 5 mins left in the SB. 2012 Pats 13 in the AFC title Game
The 2004 Colts scored 3 points in their last Playoff game
2011 Packers scored 20 points against the Giants.
1984 Dolphins scored 16 points in the SB

Etc. Even the 99' rams one of the few teams to actually win scored just 11 points in the NFC Title Game and 23 in the SB

This isnt always true

Every year its a couple that make the playoffs off of soft schedules

Just look at Denver and Indy last year

Indy had 1 win over a team with a record over .500 and I think Denver had 2 so for teams like them its not the same teams they faced during the season cause they obviously built their record up by beating bums

Exactly. You're not playing cream puffs in the playoffs.

Also, regular season the team, OC, and even QB is more likely willing to take chances on playcalling than in the regular season and can tend to lean on the conservative side. A lot of teams will try and play the field position game more and take a punt that will have the opposing offense have a longer field

High scoring offenses generally rely on finesse and timing. When a top notch defense disrupts that timing and makes the game more physical they get thrown off.
