He’s the ultimate Rapper/Hustler who flipped into a Corporate Boss. Thats a dream for thousands of African American men. PLUS he’s talented so his music mostly backs up his claims.

Plus he got the “Hottest Chick In The Game”

Jay is literally a genius at marketing the BEST of himself. Every W he’s gotten he’s not only let us know about it, but how easy it was for HIM to achieve while its harder for everyone else.

Even with 4:44. His most personal and fault acknowledging album is twinged throughout with triumph. Cheated on his wife? HE got her back. And didn’t have to deal with the shyt Future or Eric Benet did. Issues with Kanye? HE did cool by Kanye and one day when little brother grows up he’ll understand. Jay is the master at making winning look effortless

Boom.

Young nikkas resonate with his braggadocios style in his lyrics/music

Hov was talking about Richard Mille watches over a decade now

“Bueller had a Muller, but I switched for a Mille, Cause im Richer (Richard) and Prior (Pryor) to this shyt was moving freebase”

:wow:

No older rapper gets more love
At first I thought it was the money
But Master P and Dre got money too
Is it Beyonce?

Dre nor P have songs with a lot of these newer rappers. Kendrick had a Jay verse on the remix to "Don't Kill My Vibe". Jay is on Drake albums. Khaled put out a song with Jay Z and Future.

Coz he move the way a OG supposed to move.

He shows love to the young nikkas all the time and doesn't involve himself in any industry bullshyt.

It's really that simple.

Just look at the calibre of so many other old nikkas that are involved in hip-hop. They're embarrassing.

Jay z one of the greatest but past 5 years he’s done some excellent marketing/ branding to push this narrative now that social media exploded. He’s got so much of the media/ influencers pushing the GOAT narrative. You see something enough you start to believe it’s reality

none of the OGs trying to push this in the same way.

For example, lot of instagram accounts do lot of throwback hip hop fashion posts referencing rappers but rarely Nas. When actually based on Nas’ influence on current fashion such as with bucket hats, army jackets, rugby’s, the haircut he should get lot of love. But he doesn’t try and push that narrative that he set trends back in the 90s.

people just reference Pac, Cam’Ron and what not when Nas influence was massive for the entire 90s style
Nas gets his fashion props.

Im old enough to remember when things started to shift. It started with the Blueprint but the Black Album solidified his spot as far as respect in the mainstream.

Before the Blueprint, Jay was pretty much a consistent rapper who had relationships with the greats and was dissed by pac. Volume 2 was a big, etc but he wasn't really that dude. When Blueprint cameout, he pretty much went at the dudes who had respect and at the same time put on (mainstream wise) two legendary producers. Plus a legendary battle came out of it. All that together created an aura around him like he had the game in a chokehold at that specific moment cause no one else was really that mainstream while still somewhat traditionally hip hop. Then Kanye comes out, dipset on rocafella, etc, seems like the whole camp has the game on lock. Then he "retires" on top Jordan style. He then comes back but is more elusive with it. Becomes harder to reach for interviews, features, etc. Basically it's a question of moving with the times and cultivating an aura of mystique around his persona at the right time. Ironically, these two albums are not his best lyrically. Jay pretty much hustled his way into his spot (which takes nothing away from his skills)

Jayz pretty much layed the blueprint for the: "I'm a hustler, not a rapper" stance that influenced the younger generation that came along from the later 90s to present day.

things shifted when we got with beyonce, after that he was no longer a regular rapper but a mondain celebrity. Like people didn't necessarly know his music like that but knew who he was. and then he start piggy back kanye and built that mogul personna
