Why does Cocaine still have a stigma around it?

All the people I know who did/do coke on a semi-regular basis were highly successful people on good salaries, Engineers, Accountants, I wouldn't necessarily call them junkies.

That's cause they have the funds to afford the drug. If they were to lose their jobs and fall deeper into addiction, then they could easily be fiends. Coke is a manageable drug true, but for ALOT of people it gets the better of them and they start doing harder drugs or freebasing.........cocaine is really the gate way drug not weed.

Word, I have seen people go a little crazy with it. I never understood the allure really. I think people like to do it while drinking so they can "stay up". I don't drink often or go to bars or clubs that much so I guess it's just not my scene. I'll just stick to weed.

Cocaine is a schedule I drug.
Other drugs can be legal if you have a prescription, so it appears that it isn't as hard. It's all perception.

It's weird because down here it's the opposite.

Coke is accepted and damn near everyone does it when you're out and partying. When you see two dudes go in a bathroom stall together, anywhere else you'd assume they're gay, but down here, I assume they're doing blow.

It's not seen as a big deal at all. People will casually pull out bags at a pregame and do their thing and no one really says anything.

That's weird I visited Europe twice.. one time we took a road trip from France to Amsterdam and we stopped in Belgium for gas... While pumping gas, some Morrocan looked dude came up to the car out the blue and asked me if I wanted to by some coke.. I was so shocked cause I never been offered that before in my life (i was 30 at the time) and I honestly thought he was talking about the soda until he pulled out a baggy like "naw nikka.. COCAINE "

Anyways from that day I always assumed coke must have been very common in Europe being that was the first place I was ever offered it...

I think it's very common in certains circles but I think it's more of a "white/upper-class/fashion/design world" drug over here. Could be totally wrong though. Also weed and haschich are big enough here, both Netherlands and Morocco basically being next door. Maybe that plays a role too in me having the impression that coke is not that common
