:mjlol: The Bay is nothing like Detroit. The Bay just dikk rides Detroit like groupies because Detroit is real hood, not a fake suburb like the gay area.

:mjlol: Ain't no connection between the gay area and a real city like Detroit. Cali nikkas can't even move around 99% of the thorough areas of Detroit.

The Midwest is a mixed bag when it comes to musical influences, even comparing the same cities in different eras (Cleveland decidedly was a melting pot of influences in the 90s, now mostly Atlanta and lately Detroit-influenced). It's true even in the same state of Missouri for example, where STL will always gravitate to what's poppin in Memphis and Atlanta first and KC will be hip to whatever's hot in The Bay (and now Detroit) long before STL or the rest of the country picks up on it. It's these stark differences that keep a Midwest artist from completely dominating the region a la how anyone from Gucci to Dolph can tear up the chitlin circuit in the South before ever multiplying their bag by taking Midwest dates & features.

I think they were influenced by the bay synth sound mixed with original Detroit techno and ran with it.

The BPMs are faster like techno and the bass is definitely reminiscent of 90s bay mob music. The vocals aren't that similar... most Detroit cats are far more entertaining.

Kinda reminds me when Kansas City fukked with the bay heavy before Mac Dre died and a lot of their shyt was clearly influenced.

I lived in The D, west and east coast.....I KNOW but I feel like I'd have to write a book to explain this shyt lmao

Its a bunch of shyt that nikkas think is east coast, south, west coast thats some Detroit shyt on the low

Its too much to go into nobody stole shyt tho they was watching Detroit nikkas in the 60s/70s/80s doing they thang in they town and soaked up game

This shyt all goes back to the "H" trade if you ain't up on the street history and how important Detroit was it will never make sense

Even on the Hip-Hop tip....Detroit was not a Hip-Hop city shyt was damn near banned for years nikkas HAD to go OT

Artists like Boss and Eminem went to the east first and then blew up via West Coast connections

I thought 40 Water was from the D when I first heard him cause he was rapping like Detroit emcees from the 80s

Bottom line the bay is the bay..period I got fam out there but Detroit is....different

Detroit music has influenced the whole entire Hip-Hop Community for years and years.....very quietly

Y’all giving Detroit too much credit for having a “sound” like it takes effort or was premeditated or something :mjlol:

like someone said it’s basically slick talk with zero effort/thought over a basic repetitive hard beat

not much to it:manny:

I do notice people jumping on the wave because the rap style isnt mainstream and still unfamiliar to most and it’s so easy to copy like for example lil yatchy :beli:
