So "better" music of outdated and better clothes >>> ownership? Is that what I'm hearing from grown men?

I'm not sure what angle you're trying to form an argument from, but we're on the same team here. I work with other brothers here in Brooklyn to get their ideas off the ground, so I'm actively seeking Black ownership of whatever I can get involved in.

My list was simply meant to give an overview of the diversity of corporations based in NYC. If Black people owned or were in positions of power in even a few of those categories, we probably wouldn't even be having this conversation.

That's great. :salute:

But the sad reality is, most black folk up there don't own anything. 92% of all NYers don't own an asset to their name.

Hold up. HOLD UP. I'm trying to make sure I just saw someone ask the question "What major corporations has a major office in New York?".

:snoop:

:what:

Then HE WENT ON TO TALK ABOUT DALLAS :deadrose:

Talking about Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Mary Kay:camby:

Applebees and Chilis out there too breh? :rudy:
You're in here talking about "Where New York At?"

SERIOUSLY ???

NYC is a command center in the World Economy breh....

Last time I checked the GDP of the city was 1.1 Trillion.

The closest city to that is LA with a GDP of 800 million....

You're for real about that corporation shyt huh???

Or what about the startup scene here being second behind the Bay Area.

What about the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture firms, Film Production, Fashion and Retail, Publishing Houses, Advertising, Technology, Healthcare, Media, TV and Record Labels, Construction Companies, etc etc. All based here nikka?

Dallas is a regional economy and you seem to have a regionally minded view of things. NYC operates at a global scale every second of the day.

Y'all get excited about a Forbes list and a few new Skyscrapers.... Enjoy that.
You're right, come to think of it there are no opportunities in NYC :ohhh:people just keep moving here for some reason.:stopitslime:Do you know how many people live in NYC? Who told you there couldn't be gentrification and black home ownership at the same time? Why are you assuming the entire city is being gentrified in one fell swoop? How do you know some of the gentrifiers aren't black themselves? Gentrification is about class not race. NYC has a population of 8 million, even with home ownership at around 31%, that's still a lot of people. So what did you find wrong with me saying alot of blacks own homes?

http://www.dominionofnewyork.com/2011/10/05/blacks-buying-more-homes-in-nyc-now-than-10-years-ago/

Can you prove that all of those companies have offices in Dallas? That sounds like quite a general statement. Why didn't you cherry pick this sentence in the first link? This is a list of major corporations headquatered, currently and historically, in New York City, New York.

The only reason jobs move to Texas is because they are allowed to offer cheap labor with weak regulations. Talk that union shyt down there and they will probably run your ass out of town. Enjoy Texas!

What took you so long? :mjpls:
u got to just give the :snoop: to these outside lookin in ass nikkas...arguin with a fool from a distance people cant tell who is who so why bother
so nikkas dislike us because the white man is pushing us out and our legends have no one to pass the torch to?? :russ:

and since when does an artist have to sound like they come from the region they come from? In all honesty sticking to one sound will only put you in a box... so kill that noise

ok premiere held NY down with the boom bap... but let's not act like Nas, Big, Jay, Jeru, Guru and alot of other NY cats rapping over them made no difference

lol @ nikkas (lion of judah) not even having the balls to say where they come from but coming in here to tell us everything wrong with our place of residence...typical fukk boy shyt

like how you not telling us where you come from out of fear we gonna do the same shyt you doing to us right now? where they do that at??

snap rap was hot? seriously? the south runs NY? Cali?? CALI? Come on son..

what NY has done for hip hop can never EVER be outdone my nikkas. just take that L (and I can only imagine how hard of a pill that must be to swallow) so we can all get along
@Wild self is also another fukboy like @lion of judah too ashamed to say where they are from:heh: cant even take these hiding hypocrites serious

in actuality you seem to be giving alot of fukks about NYC in this thread.

& NY still makes good music til this day. you just CANNOT admit that. Your pride wont let you :manny:

:ehh:

New Yorkers are arrogant and for the first time in a long time they have nothing to be proud about :russ:
You guys got exposed as a bunch fly dudes who don't even own your homes :russ:
No cars b-b-but we all take the subway :russ:
Hip hop fashion no longer revolves around NYC. They dress like dudes from the chi:russ:
Paying 2000 a month for a beautiful 5 star view of a brick wall :russ:
Just be honest new yorkers. Yall want the world to stop picking on yall huh:shaq:

Ok, if that's the case, how come you guys can't stop talking about them then? How come you guys continue to give attention to a region you claim is dead? Why do rappers who are not native New Yorkers say they run NY or that they're the King Of NY? If NY is so bad off, how come you out of towners try so hard to gain NY's respect, acceptance, and stamp of approval? How come y'all's records have to be broken in on a NY radio station? How come y'all rappers from other regions who you claim is winning, are signed to major labels that reside where, because that's where the majors are stationed at? New York (they all got to stop thru there to conduct industry biz). Answer those questions. But I bet I'll get crickets, cause nobody wants to answer those truthfully. I'll probably get some troll/smart ass answer with a bunch of smilies and ish.

What's funny is, New Yorkers is not saying anything about no other regions. They don't care. They marching right on about their damn business (key word, business). It's y'all out of towners that keep New York on the brain. Clearly they still effect y'alls feelings. Cause you folks stay making a million threads about what's wrong with NY Hip Hop and why it failed. But then brag about how the South is running the game, or the West is back because of Kendrick (who didn't even rep his own city, he's the King of NY remember). And instead of focusing on the success you say y'all got, what do you have coming out of your mouth. NYC.
