Sales people eventually burn out. Never hear about that happening to IT people.
Steve Jobs, Donald Trump, Jay-Z, Mark Zuckerberg, *insert 100,000 more other CEOs of the beat companies*

Agreed...you'll get burnt out selling car insurance over inbound leads from a website contact form..

Jesus...is everybody you guys know in sales some brand manager at Best Buy or something ??

I should've clarified but I'm talking REAL sales...not some 55 year old burn out offering you rewards cards at CVS

With IT you can read a few advanced books, learn the material and easily transition into a well paying job.

The average salesman is making the same amount of money as your average network admin or senior helpdesk specialist. I dont know what universe your living in where salesmen are all balling but the stats on the average american income dont reflect this. These IT trends are looking beautiful though. That medical sector over the next decade :takedat:

Like any industry, you have to know where to focus your knowledge and how to ride waves. Technology is forever, and so are technicians.

Few salesman are making crazy money, many are utterly average and the the rest are in a bar drinking themselves to death so they dont have to face their wives, angry because they're such a failure
That's just a bad stereotype from watching too many movies like Pursuit of Happiness or Glengarry Glennross...

We'll bump this thread in a few years when we start to see the articles about how IT guys are becoming obsolete..nothing balling about IT

So fun fact: the Snuggie used to be called an "armless blanket" which was all gray..until they went bankrupt...someone decided to change the armless blanket's color to blue and name it the "Snuggie"...it then went on to become a 75 million dollar business it's first year and now is well into the 100s of millions

Tldr; think bigger please..not talking about pest control people knocking at your door on Sundays

You dont know enough about the industry to understand who would actually become obsolete. New tech comes, old tech goes. People who got comfortable and didnt stay current will go and young people/people who stay current will remain.

Youre talking about the smallest minority of salesman who are making crazy money and obviously there are to many people in this country to have that many people in sales. Just stop.

And no im not talking about movies im talking about what i see working in real industry, not to mention obvious math on the american saleman salary. On average Yall arent typical 6 figures. You average 50k.

This is an online forum full of nerds. And nerds are most content sitting in front of screens all day. Put a typical coli nikka in a sales position and he'd self combust in about 10 seconds.
:laff: I didn't wanna be mean cause I know how sensitive these kids are...but yes lol

I notice the only ones getting mad are the ones that spend more than 5 hours a day on here...makes sense :laff:

I work in the digital industry bud so I get a nice perspective on both... Fair enough; I overgeneralized IT guys as there are some useful ones...but the only difference here is that a lot of people can wear the "salesman" hat...it's a low barrier to entry... I could get my real estate license and jerk off all day but I'd still be a realtor...I'm talking REAL sales...but at the end of the day, sales will always get more p*ssy, respect from CEO, or if you won a business more respect, and more importantly money...history doesn't lie

I work in an industry where not many people are going to get the sales hat because you cant have some clown ass jokers in there bullshytting their way to a sale. People flying around the world to court and make sales. shyt is not a game and i dont envy these dudes. At a lower level with companies that have large sales groups there is a greater margin for error and lets be real, most of these guys are average, are making average money and there are special personality traits about the people who are actually making envious money. They're usually cutthroat and douchey. More extroverted. IT is full of more friendly people, nerds, introverted. Sales requires a personality type.

I can dig this post since it's true...

But that's the point of the thread...why spend all this time learning technical bullshyt? I see dudes on here like 5-6 hours a day pissing their youth down the drain when they could be refining their skills...and the most important one is sales...you could come up with the cure for cancer...but if you can't explain it, no one will buy--and some "wordsmith" will present it in 4 sentences and win..

IT is not sustainable with all of the AI continuing to flourish...see that news on sports journalists becoming obsolete because there's an algorithm that can write a better article than they can ? Just watch

Word...but they're selling this Everest program on here like its gospel when IT is probably one of the slowest lanes to wealth..."do you want a fast paced career in a fast growing industry? Look no further...that dream job you've always wanted is here...in only 3 months, you'll have a masters degree in IT..let's see what Jose has to say and how it changed his life" :mjlol:

People forget the Bible and getting that book out was SALES...when done right , you touch millions...and then make millions or at least decent coin..IT is plumber status

it sounds smarter to me to get a good paying job, in which i can save up to invest/gain knowledge on sales and when i'm in a good position, can make self-made moves :yeshrug:

hate on another nikkas hustle brehs
That won't happen..you'll be "too tired" or "you'll start on Monday"...story of most IT guys' life
