Hip hop does not hate will smith.
He's just a little too squeaky clean is all and plus he got rich so early and basically hiphop became a secondary source of income for him.
Streets couldn't really trust him since he blew up with that tv show and went on to start pullin 20M per movie. Thats insane money right there. Sheeeeet you can hate him just for that.
He was always a dope rapper though, he has solid skills and classics and his own place in history.

Lol the hell he doesn’t better read up on Charlie Mack.

Will and his nikkas beat a nikka til he was blind. That’s nothing to brag about but a lot of Will’s squeaky clean shyt is just great PR.

hip hop didnt hate will smith...the man has some bonafied classics under his belt..summertime alone shyts on so many careers its not even funny..however starting with his comeback in the mid 90s he was very hot and cold with his songs...songs like men in black, just cruisin, so fresh were dope as fukk..then you got shyt like will2k, getting jiggy with it, wild wild west which were just :camby:..but he did him..he had a lane and never deviated from it

post the song "Boom..shake the room" and try not to laugh

:russ:, one of the corniest songs ever, Will has said this himself, not verbatim. All the legends are allotted a few "Wtf?" passes tho, with Will it's always the singles that be shaky, album cuts have always been dope tho for the most part.

The B-Side to the single was way better. My father copped Boom Shake the Room, and I was :stopitslime:.....but checked out the other side of the tape and was:leon:

I don't think he's hated....he's just not respected by a lot of heads. Dude was the purest definition of a plant/vulture and the rap game, kinda just let it happen. No one checked him but Em and while it was light hearted, nobody else said anything. He was clearly trash at maintaining hits, and his struggle comeback into the game was met with :camby:.

Probably the best rapper who can make a hit for a movie...but passed that he was basura with the lyrics. And by that I mean, he was very rudimentary when it came to his raps. He wasn't a punchline god, or a lyrical giant. He was the rap game's Scottie Pippen, is a he a legend? undeniably. Will he ever be respected? Never.

How was Will Smith a plant or a culture vulture? :dwillhuh:
He came up in the party hip-hop scene with Jazzy Jeff and they made noise locally and got a deal just like many other rap groups in the 80's. He made party and fun music that you can call corny if you want, but he was a genuine hip-hop kid from West Philly

dude is one of those corny cac posters who are dying to use words like "vulture" in their posts when it really applies to them.

DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince vs. Will Smith are two completely different acts. and just like many others...(LL, Queen Latifah, Ice Cube to name a few)...the music suffered when the acting career flourished. "suffered" might be harsh because he had hits, but it was watered down, generic, mainstream, pop for the sake of mainstream pop commercial success...not for the sake of Hip Hop.
