Why does Hip Hop love Scarface so much and yet The Godfather 1 and 2 gets overlooked

nikkas in Hip Hop quote Scarface left and right and yet overlooked the two movies worthy of all the hype that Scarface gets in Hip Hop. The Godfather 1 and 2 has quotes, lessons, and so many layers to study for days that it makes Scarface look like a parody. I get why a lot of people like Scarface but that movie realy was shytty. The Godfather is worthy of all the hype and appreciation Scardace gets. I'm shocked more heads don't see the knowledge, lessons and "rules to the game" by way of The Godfather 1 and 2.

I love Goodfellas, I like Carlito's Way but The Godfather 1 and 2 is where it's at. It's the foundation for all of that mafia movie shyt.

The Godfather shyt is reserved and understated. It has violence but it's secondary.

Scarface? It was in your face, heavy on the gratuitous violence. Dope quotable one liners, miami high life, fast cars, fast money, nikkas using guns the size of texas. shyts was just over the top. It was like sensory overload lol And i cant forget to mention all coke they was doing. I damn near got high just watching that shyt.

None of this is true...Nothing in Godfather 1 or 2 is boring and they are the much better movies while Scarface has a great 1st act....after he takes over the mansion and trade, shyt is ill-paced, and just stupid...one of the most overrated movies of all time...the only great thing in Scarface was Al pacino's acting...everything else was ass juice compared to Godfather 1 & 2

I don't like either of the movies but this is why I think Scarface is more popular. One is a "grown man's" movie, the other is gratuitous and crazy. I found Godfather boring as fukk not gonna lie. Scarface is definitely one of the most overrated movies ever made though.

I tried to like the Godfather but I found it uninteresting, not gonna lie. My favorite mobster/Pacino, deniro-type movie is Casino. I could watch Casino a million times and never get bored of it. Love that fukking movie. I feel the same way about The Departed. Scorsese the goat

Not really a mobster movie but Heat is to me also. You got me wanting to rewatch all my favorite movies again

Yea Heat is a classic top 20 movie of all time to me. Its flawless and moves so perfectly. Casino is great too, but its not fukking with Goodfellas. I love the epic mob movies and they are period pieces too, so the Godfathers are perfect to me...I can watch them all day. The Departed was entertaining as fukk, but not on the level of the movies you listed. How do you feel about Mean Streets, the first street, grimey mob movie?
