Why does Hip Hop love Scarface so much and yet The Godfather 1 and 2 gets overlooked

It's a movie that's trying to be historical correct in some sense.

It'd be like if Mad Men hadnt shown us that one scene where that one old boss dresses up in Blackface. We all know or have an idea of what it was like back then so to not show something with some depth and historical reference would make the movie unrealistic.

None of this is true...Nothing in Godfather 1 or 2 is boring and they are the much better movies while Scarface has a great 1st act....after he takes over the mansion and trade, shyt is ill-paced, and just stupid...one of the most overrated movies of all time...the only great thing in Scarface was Al pacino's acting...everything else was ass juice compared to Godfather 1 & 2

Michael Mann sheits all over Scorsese imo. Scorsese is immature and his sheit plays like a music video. Mann is mature and measured. His charachters have motivation and their not just cardboard cutoffs who curse and say n1993r all the time.

Heat,The Insider, Thief, Collateral,Last of the mohicans,Ali are all superior to anything Scorsese has ever made.Scorsese and Tarantino are both immature filmakers who make macho "gangster" films for teenage boys. Like I said it's not reality. It's a music video, where everyone always has something funny to say and their is always some white guy putting others in their "place". Thats why I was so disgusted with The Departed. Scorsese and Monahan took a brilliant, layered human drama, and filled it with cheap Irish stereotypes and pointless violence.

The Departed I agree with. But Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy, and Goodfellas are perfect and very complex, multilayered dramas...you really should revisit those films man

I tried to like the Godfather but I found it uninteresting, not gonna lie. My favorite mobster/Pacino, deniro-type movie is Casino. I could watch Casino a million times and never get bored of it. Love that fukking movie. I feel the same way about The Departed. Scorsese the goat

Not really a mobster movie but Heat is to me also. You got me wanting to rewatch all my favorite movies again
