All our lives from elementary through HS(and after) we are shytted on by our own kind if we strive to do good. nikkas really act like you aint "real" or whatever because you're intelligent. You get older and see that there are actually women out there that love nothing but dumb, ignorant ass nikkas. Its all kinda mind boggling.
Til this day when I'm being productive there's nikkas that question it like "why you be building shyt all the time". "Oh you one of those smart nikkas". It's crazy what we go through from our own kind

Stay blaming black women for who black men become.

100% same.

And its the same result...everytime. other races are the ones tha appreciate the talent and support them while black folks are the ones skeptical about them and criticizing them.

I'll tell you something as a black creative. With my latest collection...damn near all of my customers have been white. I actually went out of my way to get hispanic customers. I just wanted it to be more...universal so to speak.

I have never had a black customer buy any of my stuff. It boggles my mind. We would be operating the shop underneath the main store we rented it from and i would see tons of black folks spending their hard earned money at yet another white owned and operated establisbment just to rock those labels...but when i told them about my store...they would be like...:ehh:okay. And not come through.

This actually brings me back to the tariq boots thingy...now its one thjng if you dont like em...but to not even give it a chance? Doing business on a day to day level i really got some insights on what its like to be a black business person and a black creative. Too many of us really do believe the white guy or the non black guy's ice is colder...just cause.

We often complain about why there arent many black owned this or that...but then when those come...we dont support them...and then they go out of business and we are back to square one.

Tell the truth dude they been white with disposable income. How many poo white trash buying your shyt? This is a class issue and may even be regional. You ever consider plying your wares in places where there are black folks that got more money?

I've said the same thing about Kanye and Virgil. They're opening doors for the next Generation of Black fashion Designers. I respect that a lot.

Fukk Kayne. He just trying to be that pet nikka. Go on tumblr and see beautiful creative inspiring black folks.

And it's very ironic that you praise this high profile pet negroe and not the regular dudes you see around the way with more style in their pinky than Kayne will have in his whole body simply because of white (though flaky) patronage.

And :stopitslime: at Basquiat not having a black fan base when he was alive. That's just silly. Plenty of black folks appreciated him. Fab 5 Freddy was one of his good friends. Let's also not act like Basquiat didn't surround himself with white people either. And should I really tell my kids to aspire to be a drug addict who couldn't put the needle down long enough to reach his full potential? This thread is just dumb.

A lot of butthurt guys in this thread :mjlol:.

From high school and up, all I got was congratulations from black people for doing well Academically. Stop shyttim on your own race. We face different circumstances and have zero control over the media. The media has a huge effect on how we see people. There lots of educated smart and succesful black people out there.
Its the media who shows blacks that are hooping and rapping. Yes, there needs to be a shift in culture where youngins in inner cities focus more on education but come on..some of y'all acting like most black people ain't sheet

My Grandfather moved the family (before I was born) from Brooklyn to Queens back when there was mostly Jewish people in Jamaica in the 70's. He didn't want my mother and uncle living around and influenced by the "nikka Logic". Jamaica eventually became mostly Black in 20 years so then my mother told my father that we needed to move to escape the "nikka Logic" again to another part of Queens.

It's sad but it is what it is. In order to succeed as a Black person you have to run away from Black people, just behind the "White Flight". You have to be raised around Indians, Chinese, Whites to be inspired to be competitive enough to compete at the world level. They are coming from their countries hungry meanwhile we (and many Hispanics) are lagging behind on purpose because it's "cool".

nikka please.

OP and a few other posters in here sound like they've watched The Wire and CNN's Black in America, put a few hours in at a community center on a Saturday and are now experts on black issues in America. :jbhmm:

Judging "hood" and "street" people when you wouldn't even have a conversation with anyone from that ilk :mjlol:

The hood and the street is where black folks creative impulses originate. Consider how black dialect keeps American English dynamic. Much of what constitutes American culture (her largest export) comes from black folks in the hood and on the street

John mcwhorter wrote a book about this phenomenon some years ago and was absolutely destroyed by the black elite

Unfortunately this is just a problem we'll have to deal with

I can't say that I had the same experiences as you guys. Went to a Failing High School.

Early in highschool, Yeah, I got roasted for being intelligent. But, at the same time, them nikkas were weirdly proud of me.

By Senior year, i legitimately felt the love and support. From some of the same nikkas. They kept telling me that I was gonna be one of the only nikkas from my school to make it.
I thought that shyt was mad Corny back then. But, now...
