James Harden is the exact same player he was once he got into the NBA. The only things that have changed about him since being traded were his minutes (& by extension his numbers), his role, his pay, & expectations.

I think the problem was he was obviously the missing piece of OKC not winning a title...and Houston essentially gave him a max contract...and Harden is definitely good enough to be your third wheel...probably over qualified for that...which is why he was the missing piece in OKC eventually getting a chip...
And his game is tailor made for the nba regular season...it is such a soft league now...any little contact and you fall you get the call...
All of a sudden he putting 40 point games...but somehow nobody notices it took him 24 free throws to get it...where is that thread where he had 20 something points but only made one or two shots...
And people forget at OKC he was always on the floor with Durant and Westbrook...he was never the focal point of the offense...
I also think Brooks having him guard Lebron in the finals fukked his head up...I think on the defensive end he has flashbacks of being stuck on the low block with Lebron...people forget just how brutally Lebron abused Harden...it was like if some c00n ass nikka who did a credit card scam got caught and they sent his ass up to RIkers Cell Block D with some nikkas doing 25 to life for armed robbery, assault, and a triple murder...just some ungodly cruel shyt...that why he is so flat footed on defense...he spends the whole time having PTSD flashbacks...
