if the sixers are a 50 win team in 2-3 years, i'll proclaim him the best gm in the nba. right now all he's shown is an ability to accrue protected 1st round picks and 2nd round picks. nothing tangible has come from all his tanking.

at this time in the OKC tanking experiment, they had Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka in the fold. who does philly have? Okafor?

Wasn't his fold the talent the past two drafts has been horrible. I can't three good players from the last two drafts.

This time last year, no one was talking about D'Angelo Russell, now Lakers fans are saying he was the better choice than the consensus #1 pick last summer in Okafor. :camby:

russell is the outlier, he ain't the rule. guys don't usually come outta nowhere to become top 3 picks in the nba draft. we usually know who'll be top 3 a few years out.

and by all accounts, the 2015 class has been dissapointing outside of ben simmons. they've been getting outshhined by the 2016 class for a few years now. cats like josh jackson, dennis smith jr, harry giles, and jayson tatum are considered better prospects than anyone in the 2015 class. and they're all a year or two younger than ben simmons.

Russell was hyped because he was the only PG worth mentioning in a weak ass draft class of PGs. Don't get hype with this kid his weaknesses are glaring and require patience and building which is why 76ers were a better fit.

last 2 drafts have been INCREDIBLY deep in terms of talent. Wiggins is a future top 5 player in the league. Towns, Okafor, Russell, Parker, and Randle look like potential all-stars. even guys like Elfrid Payton have potential to be really good.

blame hinkie for being bad at drafting. he shoulda kept Payton last year rather than trying to flip him for another 1st round pick in the future. he shoulda traded up and taken russell rather than trying to keep his pot of 1st round picks full. he's taken risks drafting guys with questionable injurise (Embiid and Noel). he traded away tangible players (MCW) for more protected 1st round picks.

the sixers experiment wasn't horrible but its execution has been. they've picked the wrong players (Embiid/Okafor), traded the wrong players (MCW/Payton), and failed to actually put legitimate basketball players on the court.

russell and mudiay are not weak. they're better than any PG's to come out since Kyrie in 2011. elfrid payton had a great rookie year last year. no one told hinkie it was better to trade him for some euro who'll never show up and another 1st round pick.

at some point the goal should be to turn those picks into players. not continue stacking 1st round picks in perpetutity.

So people knew about Embiid a few years back?

People knew about Oladipo being a top 3 pick a few years before he was drafted? Shabazz was a projected top 3 pick. Cody Zeller got a ton of hype.

MKG was known a few years before he was drafted as a top 3 pick?

Players come out of nowhere every year. Cats that have been receiving hype disappoint and drop off every year.

:dwillhuh: You can't be serious. Payton was to get our Oakfor pick back and a PG who can't shoot go that way. Randle an undersized 4 in the west really breh. MCW really breh who is horrible in every statistical category and a 11th pick. Parker who was oversized and torn acl, Wiggins a three who can't dribble or has an consistent jumper.

Noel the best rookie defensive player since who David Robinson who improved the team defensive in every statistical category. What are you smoking

Embiid is an african. he doesn't count. oladipo, shabazz, and zeller were just part of a weak class. usually those are the drafts with alot of volatility. mkg is a scrub, so who cares if he jumped all the way to #2. i'm talking about guys who develop into legit stars. those guys usually don't come outta nowhere. they're usually on the national radar for a number of years.

the only american outlier i can think of that jumper outta nowhere was Anthony Davis. but his rise coincided with a crazy increase in his height from 6'2" PG to 6'10" pf. outside of shyt like that, its very rare for an AMERICAN to go from irrelevance in high school to high 1st round pick and eventual superstar. steph curry and d-wade are the only guys i can think of in the last 15 years that fit that mold.

Jazz are a playoff team soon? :mjlol:

Thunder, Warriors, Rockets, Clippers, Spurs, Grizz are all a lock assuming their teams stay together.

Then you got the Suns, with or without LMA, Mavs, Pelicans.

Favors is nice and I love me some Goby, but they ain't making playoffs with that cac Hayward as their #1 option. This ain't the E-League homie. :francis:

Other than Mudiay, which one of those could they have drafted :beli:

they coulda used those boatload of future 1st round picks to move up in the draft to take russell. the problem is hinkie is trying to be cute and win every transaction going away. sometimes you gotta make bold moves that don't look to be 100% in your favor at the moment.

So Hinkie sucks for stockpiling picks, but the Lakers would've traded a #2 for a bunch of future picks?

Okafor, who stopped getting hype by Laker fans after Russell was the pick, won't be a perennial all-star, but the Lakers would've given up a guy with superstar potential for him and a bunch of future 1st round picks, which according to you, is dumb strategy :patrice:
