I was just talking to a family member about an ongoing issue and I got called selfish because I refused to continue to help out on a situation they’ve caused and is affecting my health but “because I should take on more because I don’t have kids”
Why does society think single or childless people are selfish.

society can suck the nut out of my selfish, happy dikk.
i'm not about to let a bunch of losers dictate what's best fro me based on their own bias
majority of people are impulsive and hate delayed gratification so they fukk up the trajectory of their lives and want other people to do the same to make them feel better about their bad decisions.

and usually when others call you 'selfish', its to gaslight you because they cant get what they want out of you.

Establishing boundaries tends to get perceived as being selfish
Because when you're 80 you're going to be expecting other people's kids to take care of you
they think you're judging their choices based on the choices you make.

Being selfish is great. U gotta take care of yourself before u can take care of someone else.

I dunno. I’m pretty sure some of it is biological. Reproduction is a pretty strong ass human instinct and one of the ways we try to control all the variables and chaos around it is by pair-bonding to ensure the quality of life of offspring.
But it isn’t enough for people to make their own individual decisions on this. There are also social mechanisms in place that encourage a weird type of group dynamic oriented towards putting pressure on others to conform to similar pair-bonding models. Studies show the primary issue many single people have isn’t dissatisfaction with their actual lives, but pressure and stigma from others about their choice to remain single.
How crazy is that? So people would be just fine if we left people the fukk alone even when they don’t act the way we want them too.
I think some people fear the influence of people’s lifestyle choices on society at large. And I also think there could be a bit of jealousy/regret they are projecting onto you based on their own lifestyle choices.
Regardless, a wonderful part of growing up is living life on your own terms. Do what is best for you, damn the rest.

I told my sisters, if they don’t want kids then don’t have them. I also told them not to rush to get married and to enjoy life before you make any serious commitments. I got married early and while we are doing fine, I recognize the opportunities that I missed out on because of how young I was. Not to mention my wife already had a child.
Good thing is we’ll be in our 40s when our kids are out the house and we’ll probably be in the peaks of our careers making the most money we’ve made up to that point…. But you never know when it’s your time and we could never make it to that point, God forbid.
My sister took it to heart though… she’s 27 and travels multiple times per year and isn’t looking to get married, although I’m not a fan of her boyfriend. She even picked up a second full-time job since they’re both virtual and moved back in with my mom to stack bread so she can buy a house. I’m proud of her

These women will get pregnant by you with the quickness too, one of my guys got caught up. Yeah it's his fault, but this broad ain't try to do no type of plaining or anything.

Having kids doesn't guarantee they'll take care of you though. There are a lot of parents who are alone.
