shyt, Jamie Lee Curtis and Angela Bassett been in the game for nearly 50 years and this was their first and 2nd nominations respectively.

It's actually crazier when you think Jamie Lee Curtis's parents were Oscar-nominated. That family been grinding for that award starting from the 50's. :wow:

The nomination/role that keeps plying in my head is Ruby Dee in American Gangster. She was nominated for playing…A mother. And had basically one strong speech. Probably less than 5 minutiae screen time.

It was a HELLUVA speech/role, but it was never gonna win an Oscar. It was credit enough just to be nominated and a clear hat nod to the fact they never nominated before. That’s all that nomination was, and that’s all this nomination is
