So my question to you is... what other country hasn't enforced slavery? How is that not an honest question? AFRICA had slavery. AFRICANS sold AFRICANS into slavery.

But I did a lot of travelling in the U.S., friggin almost every white family has family in the military.

What you are describing is also the case in Israel, but with the majority of the people.
And in Israel everyone has a minimum of 3 years in the military mandatory.

Nope, and I've met thousands of active duty retired and reserve military members over the years.

As for the military... again I don’t understand how you can not be grateful for people who put their lives on the line so that you can continue to enjoy the freedoms here in America.

Bullshyt. It has been well over 100 years since any American soldier died defending American freedoms.

EVERY war that every living American soldier has participated in was undertaken due to various allegiances or in order to manipulate world events. Not one posed an actual threat to our constitutional integrity.

In fact, it's an easy argument that our military engagements have stripped more Americans of rights that granted them.

I didn't say 'forget slavery'.

I am saying that if America cannot be considered a great nation, or a nation worthy of our pride, because there is slavery in it's heritage... then by that same token there are very few nations on Earth that can be considered great to begin with.

If you aren't proud to live in America, I'm wondering if there is a country on Earth you would be more proud to live in?



edit: I apologize I misunderstood your post. I don't think you were insinuating I 'forget slavery'.

Of course I believe segregation was a terrible thing. We were still a very racist country at that time. Doesn't mean we haven't made great strides.
