Why does the US have such a big gap in fully vaccinated and people with just one dose?

62% of Americans are fully vaccinated, but 74% have gotten at least one dose. There's a 12% point margin, a chunk of people who got one dose but not their second. Some will get it, but some clearly never do given that this margin has been present the entire time and is disproportionally large in the USA it seems?

South Korea: 82.4% full vax, 85.5% 1 dose
France: 73.7% full vax, 78.5% 1 dose
Italy: 75.3% full vax, 81.5% 1 dose
Australia: 77% full vax, 79.7% 1 dose

None of these margins are remotely close to ours.

I got my 1st in Aug 2021, my 2nd shot Last week in Dec.

I procrastinated even with the God damm pharmacy literally attached to my building down stairs.

I really don't know why I didn't complete it sooner.

It's hard to get people to come back and follow up with anything let alone a vaccine.

Their arm got sore for a couple days and didn't like it.

They got a vaccine in one state and haven't returned back to that state yet.

They wanted a legit vaccine card and wanted to forge the second shot

They had side effects to the first shot

It's just so many reasons, you can't pick one.

1. Some places put incentives in place for a first dose.


NYC for example said 1 dose and you can PARTY!! Access to clubs, bars, gyms, etc. Only as of a week ago did that become a 2 shot mandate of which many who had no interest just "wrote in" the second vaccine(I know people who got the first shot that didn't bother for the second)

They also gave $100 for the first dose as well after vaccinations stalled.


No financial incentive for the second though so there's that.





There's no real centralized system in place to legitimately check who has what anyway. Couple months ago when the booster was only authorized for the elderly there were younger folks going to different vaccine locations. Lying by saying they were never vaccinated and got their third shots early. At least this was the gaeplan I saw on the NYC subreddit. And they were getting through with ease.

for me they just gave me a date and told me to show up
they never reminded me, called me, or sent me an email.
when I went back there was no one to make sure I had an appointment
