So I guess Nas requesting the Large Professor remix of Gotta Get Over cuz it was his favorite beat to freestyle to, and then proceeding to go off the top never happened? I guess those old Stretch and Bob tapes I had with Biggie, BCC, Smoothe The Hustler, Mic Geronimo, and pretty much anybody with a 12" out at the time freestyling were a figment of my imagination. The dub tapes I have of Redman and Rock on Power 99, Raekwon and Common on the wakeup show, Mad Skillz, The Artifacts, etc were really just imaginary.

Again, you can go on youtube or google blogs right now and find most of this sh*t to download. It aint revising history if it actually happened.

Not challenging what you said here but I've noticed hip hop fans are horrible at distinguishing what is off the top and what is written

imo it's pretty easy to tell the difference but I've seen a lot of people think verses that rappers spit on radio that are clearly written are actually off the top

I love how that's the go to excuse for cats. The whole "well, a freestyle didnt always mean off the dome". What does that have to do with my original post?

It also doesn't help your argument that i've seen or heard everyone you mention go off the top with the exception of Kool Moe Dee.

Freestylin isn't the end all be all, but people really need to stop making excuses for these dudes. They dont go off the dome cuz they cant.

For the record, im not even that big of a Skyzoo fan, (though Torae has been a fav of mines for years), but I acknowledge his talent and skill as an MC, as shown there.
Show me Big Daddy Kane, Nas and Big L going off the top...

Every Big L, matter of fact most CoC freestyles were writtens...

SkyZoo's flow is trash, he suffers from Talib Kweli syndrome of cramming bars with too many syllables, and spits way too many coded bars. Dude is overrated as hell by "real hip hop fans".

Dudes acting like (written) freestyles is what sets you apart like it some kind of rapper super power.

y'all dudes talking bout these rappers no different than these other fanboys you like to clown

"b-b-b my favorite rapper can freestyle and blah blah blah"
no different than rednecks on some
"yea my F150 has a lift kit and blah blah blah"
or PC nerds with the
"My computer can run 10908907890 frames per second and has 1687 gbs of ram blah blah blah"

"my iphone is better because....."
"my PS4 is better because...."
"my obsession with trannys is better because...."

SMH, y'all need to let that shyt go

Drake isn't hip hop, didn't come up through the mixtape scene, didn't experience a regular life before hip hop, and is an extremely limited "artist" that had to be texted verses for a Funk Flex radio appearance, citing business as the reason why he didn't have bars...but 50 managed to do so multiple times when he was larger...and being targeted by street nikkas.
Y'all's fukkboy patron saint has no credibility. Let him be great at what makes him great: Being a good tool for songwriters and producers to make hit music. A good brand-name and a nice face for media.

wait, u dudes think rappers are actually freestyling off the top on radio? theres only a very few that still do that

most just flow written verses from previous or unreleased songs, even the best atm like kdot and cole have "freestyled" written verses

which is why when i see someone truly flow off the top it is much appreciated
