He grew up in a wealthy area and strategically (mid 00s) turned the Toronto hip hop scene against itself with diss tracks and allegiance purchasing. His personal trainer is Ken Masters, a former buzzing Toronto rapper. He's from Forest Hills. I wonder what happened after he got his first black friend at 18? Mixed has nothing to do with it, as there are several examples of mixed breh (with white mother)doing real things for the COMMUNITY in both countries.
Black Scotians are US up here. They're often hired by bikers and other cac organizations to recruit and traffic underage females. Extremely poverty-stricken, given bedrock land after the underground railroad. Being placed in housing projects by force soon afterward.
Or how black immigrants are discriminated against DAILY, even through media. Canadian white newspapers popularized the term "fatherless" up here, and cac thinking black strivers take on their mannerisms. Black men are the face of crime quite often, even though the VAST MAJORITY of vulnerable populations are harmed by white men. You'll never see a white woman being displayed in a negative manner unless they can isolate her case or connect it to a man. Very tricky culture of sneaky racists, c00ns, and confused immigrants trying to come up in a low population winter country.
Drake doesn't care because it's not in him to do so.
He doesn't speak on this because he has a white outlook and his blackness was a detriment to him, now it's only a financial tool.
:yeshrug:
When did he meet those g way nikkas from Scarborough?

He's been famous for the past 8 years and I have no clue what his life was like prior to fame outside of breakups. He's been famous for 8 years and I have no clue what his life is like outside of breakups. You know how many songs this nikka has made in 8 years? Terrible.

Yep, and I found it hard to believe that I actually gaining more respect for Ross and him making tracks like "Buying back the Block" over the years over Drake now. In 2009, I was like :obama: when Drake was blowing up because he was on that everyday man theme before Cole was known. Then over the years, I was like :patrice: after his 2nd album when he was talking about "knowing the hustle so well" and then :stopitslime: by the time of his 3rd album in 2013. After the Meek Mill exposure, I was like :pacspit: because I found out that GHOSTWRITERS have been used for the most superficial and easiest subjects that an entertainer can do. He just sucks life out of everything he does and not even humble anymore. That is also why I respect Cole for not acting like a fool after he blew up and still does crazy #s.

For me back in 2009, Ross was :dahell: for him being exposed as a CO and Drake was :obama: for being humble (fronting, really)

In 2017, Ross to me is :myman: and Drake is :pacspit:

Crazy how time reveals you or exposes you.

anyone asking for social responsibility doesn't have parents.

struggle rap is not "real" rap. Don't equate the two.

@hex

Please swing me that "thecoli" gif.

Don't equate struggle rap with real rap. And then at the same time equating someone who wants artists that take part in a black American culture to speak on black American issues to someone being "parent less"

I mean damn bro.

That's why hes not top 10 let alone top 5

Ghostwriters been used for making superficial hits and for him transitioning into the Pop lane of music. He used Hip Hop in his younger years, then went "alternative" as a way to show forced maturity as an entertainer. Just like those white artists do: use black music when they young, then go full-blown Pop when they hit a certain age.

Ive lived in the US and Canada, and Canadian blacks dont go through a quarter of the hardship as AA.

Yea theres project areas with violence and poverty in part of the urban cities like toronto but the law enforcement aint really harassing you like that, and the government assistance is good. Most the nikkas that born in canada are terry cloth, no hardbody Canadian nikkas only the generation from immigrants put in work. Drake is a good mascot for Canada.

even if shyt is peaches n cream over there....let me know about it.

Drake can't help how he grew up, but you want to hear more project-tales.

Seriously think about where you want this convo to go.

Well who is Drake?? I'm not saying that as a diss either, who does he align his views with? He's a Jew from Canada. Does he have a social responsibility to touch upon American problems?

See he's changed his character so many times how can u narrow it down? He's a lean sipper from Houston, A Miami drug Czar, A Dancehall pop star, and of course we can't forget Euro Drizzy! Should he be touching upon Brexit?

Look I'm not defending or dissing him, I'm someone who thinks that rappers should touch real life topics instead of being superhero's all the time. Drake really isn't someone I'd care to hear his opinion on real shyt. I just want him to keep producing that music that keeps those chicks ass shaking on the dance floor.

Project tales aren't the only form of struggle rap. And struggle rap itself is just triumph over adversity rap. Has nothing to do with where you're from. Drake has an interesting story, without being from poverty or the projects of a former drug dealer. He touches on it in interviews but barely in his music. For whatever reason
