See I find this to be a valid post while I don't 100 agree with you .If you really think about it Drake doesn't talk about shyt. That's probably why he's where he is. His content is basic shyt that's relatable...
**I have haters
**I have doubters
**Relationship drama
**Family struggles
**People switching up when I got bread
The everyday nicca/female can relate when they listen to a Drake joint. But relatability doesn't mean substance. There's not much substance to his music.
Him being a mixed Canadian also plays a part. He doesn't have to embrace political, cultural and societal issues because he's not fully Black and he's not American. So it gives him an easy out.
Nothing at all. That's what pop music isWhats the problem with doing that as an artist?

It's definitely intentional and it's a brilliant strategy that has earned him millions of dollars. A stripper can relate to haters at her job, a college student can relate to relationship drama and the average dude can relate to family shyt. He basically can appeal to young people of all ethnicities by keeping shyt as general as possible and not really talking about a damn thing as far as actual substance is concerned.I mentioned that in the album thread...
I feel like he chooses the most generic things to make songs about in an effort to relate to as many ppl possible.
Who is "we" though? Black folks? Hip hop heads? I don't think black folks consider Drake black and I don't think hip hop heads consider Drake hip hop. Drake is a pop act and is treated as such. There's a segment of Drake fans that consider his music hip hop (which is laughable) and when it's time for awards he'll get put in the rap category because white folks just generalize but Drake is just as pop as Brittany Spears or the Backstreet Boys were.See I find this to be a valid post while I don't 100 agree with you .
The second part of my post is basically asking why do we accept that ?
He considers himself a rapper and even an MC.Who is "we" though? Black folks? Hip hop heads? I don't think black folks consider Drake black and I don't think hip hop heads consider Drake hip hop. Didn't take long for a sensitive Drake stan to enter the thread. OP has a valid argument. She's not saying that Drake has to come out with a Dead Prez album *he'll probably bite them the next album though*
See I find this to be a valid post while I don't 100 agree with you .

Don't read OP and then comment brehs .Hasn't Drake spoke out on police shootings, Trump and other things multiple times?
But What I really want to say is why do y'all crave for rappers to have social commentary.
I never want to hear social commentary for rappers. Y'all praise these guys for speaking on the most surface level racial dynamics.
OP stank p*ssy having ass believe hiphop was founded and gained popularity of social commentary/ responsibility
'Conscious' rap is for some, not for others - Get used to it..
OP stank p*ssy having ass dont know anything about hiphop if she believe social commentary is supposed to be a part of your domain and subject matter as a rapper
I read the OP and I my point is I don't care where you come from in America if you make music I don't want to hear social commentary from youDon't read OP and then comment brehs .
You didn't point out where my post was wrong, thoyou can't be an adult. Damn near head over heels for Drake
This type of posts make Drake fans look bad. Before you respond with the foolishness...pull up

So just like the white man use our culture for all the good but when it's time to help us out itsNobody is required to say what you want them to say. He makes money doing what he does, not what you want
