It's been said India is one of the most racist countries, and I believe them.

Now this isn't referring to Indians that come here and become Americanized, whom I really don't have many problems with. The younger generation that grew up here and the older cats who adopted a more cultural-diverse outlook are cool in my book and some of the friendliest people I've met. They also end up being real cool with Black folks from my observation. For some reason all of them also end up being Lakers fans. If you end up meeting a cool Indian person, I'm betting they watch the Lakers routinely.

That said, back to my original statement, that country from what I've heard and read about is probably the worst place to be if you're Black. Reading stories, it sounds like they genuinely hate dark skin over there. When my girlfriend went to Disneyland, she was in the bathroom and an Indian lady was disciplining her child who was crying and told her she's acting like an "n....." After my girlfriend checked the shyt out of her, that lady's response was "you can't take life too seriously, it's just a word." The ignorance sounds like it just runs real deep over there.

Wow, so many racist responses.
Inferior DNA.
Whack diet.
Wiping butt with hand is not a sport.

I do think a lot of it is the culture. They don't prop up sports and athletics like other countries. They do like cricket and squash.
There are many poor nations who at least have runners who can win medals.

I don't think that lack of medals is a bad thing. The whole Olympics, winter and summer, is propped up to support amateur athletics, but the IOC has allowed professional athletes to compete. It's a show now to showcase rich countries basically with a couple poor countries. It makes you want to cheer for the little guys. The US is now the "big bad guy".

For a website that is constantly harping on race issues and inequality, there sure is some racist shyt being spewed in this thread. But who gives a fukk right? It's just Indians. Stay classy.

You got to start putting people on ignore. I'm only reading well thought out comments.

Many have posted valid reasons why India doesn't do well in sports. Another reason is that they are skinny-fat. At normal weight Indians have an usually high amount of body fat.

There's no support for athletes there, poor infrastructure, and unheard of levels of corruption.

Cultural differences; indian parents don't value sports as a career, they'd rather their kids study. Plus, they only want to play cricket.

Class/caste systems; the majority of poor, talented athletes will probably never be noticed, and the rich ones are mostly lazy or egotistic. When I say lazy or egotistic I mean they've grown up with servants around the house, can you imagine them being trained by someone lesser than them :russ:. Sadly these are the only ones that can afford professional development and bribes.

The poor probably can't afford the bribes to get in. If they do well at the olympics they'll be treated great, but if not you might find them begging on the streets a few years later. If you get injured, then what?

The money the government would spend to develop coaching and facilities for olympic sports is eaten at every level and there ends up being crumbs to actually train athletes.

I've never lived in India but I've been there several times and I'm telling you brehs, the corruption is endless

Amen.

There are still amateur events where there are no professional sports organization like gymnastics, swimming, diving, fencing and weightlifting.

I've grew up around a lot of Indians I've never met a semi athletic one.

Which is better off. I remember a few of them sweating and curry coming from their pores was pretty gross. I stopped guarding them
