Why doesn't NYC inject rats with an HIV-type virus?

NYC has a huge rat problem... Why not inject them with a HIV/Aids serum and allow them to just kill themselves off?

What would the drawbacks be?

I knew I was get this smartass post.. But I'm being Fr when I say that I don't see the drawbacks in eliminating (if not curbing) the rat population from society... Do you like rats? Do you know anybody that does like rats? All the government has to do is inject about 10,000 or them with the hiv/aids combo serum and vamooosh...rat problem solved

You'll never eliminate rats entirely while humans are alive, it's impossible. The only way rats die off is if we become extinct. We are their lifeline due to all the waste we produce, our garbage is their food source.

As it stands today if you or anybody saw a rat on your property you would either kill it or call an exterminator. .. My proposal isn't much different than the protocol we as humans already already have when we come across a rat... It's just more effect way for the city to control the rat population.

I don't ever hear other cities without a rat problem say "Man it sure would be nice to get some more rats around here..

If not HIV we need to inject them with something like chlamydia or syphilis

Not true. . If we didnt have condoms, doctors, and sex - ed the human race would have died off because of STDs...
