No doubt, I would never say that immigrants can't play basketball just that it might have shifted (damaged) the culture of basketball in New York

But this right here is a very interesting point in the article
Well Jersey is the burbs, football is a suburban sport by default.

Chris Taft made the league too. I saw him in HS and didn't think anything special of him.

Speaking of Tash Gibson, did they ever find the LUNATIC that killed his 6 year old cousin in Brooklyn?

It hurts my heart to think dude got away with such a public atrocity.
Yes; they found like a day or two after. It became a big story, and had the mayor on it.

Isn't Roy Hibbert from Queens and son of Trinidadian and Jamaican parents? I doubt it has as much to do with migration in terms of basketball as much as it does with size.

My old lady is from the south, Louisiana swamps south. People down there are just bigger than dudes up north. Where I grew up in Brooklyn, 5'7'' is a normal height for a baller whereas down south its usually 6 feet and taller.

I do agree with the weight lifting comment in the article. In my High School, it was either basketball gym for PE or Weight Lifting gym. Most dudes took basketball gym because everyone wanted to shine whereas only dudes interested in football and soccer teams took weight lifting.

You got a point man. I'm from bama and I'm 6'4" and while I played bball, I only did it to stay in shape and I am good at it too. I just didn't care about it like I did football, been playing it since I was 9, didn't play organized basketball until 7th grade. Otherwise I just played football and lifted weights.

It's at least 5 nikkas in Rucker Park right now better than Jordan. :stopitslime:

But they ain't gon get that break. :sadcam:

Just wondering. Is Rucker Park always busy with runs? Or are there times of the day where it's empty and little kids can use the basket?

It's like 24/7 All-Star Game only with better players and no fouls. :blessed:

Nah for real it's just like any other court. Runs might be a lil more intense at times. But it's really famous because of the tourney they hold there, the EBC. Celebs urrwhere. And they break out the wooden floor and shyt. :banderas:
