Same reason the South don't sound like Bay Area mob muzik anymore. Sh*t got played out and artists moved on.

There's probably local stuff in LA that do that still, though. And one of the previous posters is right, so much of that sound was done to death that flipping those samples would end up like almost creating something entirely new from scratch. I mean, can that Daz song, Parliament and Zapp be flipped at all now without sounding stale?

There are tracks here and there though. (Example: that Murs & Fashawn, Kendrick Lamar)

Fixed that for you. YG sound like a new bay nikka, and mustard makes beats like a new bay nikka. It's all love cause it's cali but get that "ratchet/function/jerk" shyt the fukk outta here :leostare:

yall nikkas beats sounded like Jelly Roll til that hyphy shyt hit the scene

Word, all I ask is that people give credit where credit is due. They trynna call DJ Mustard new shyt "ratchet" music or function music. It's Bay Area music pretty much

I only heard the first link and one of the other links...that shyt is trash breh and I swear I'm being honest.

The first joint sound so cheap and cheesy..I've been making beats for like 14 years and it sounds like one of my first beats when I was still learning. That shyt has NOTHING on g-funk or even a lot of the "modern" production that's out now. I'll take a young chop beat over that garbation.

My taste makes me say

Battle cat in his prime
Primo in his prime
DJ quick in his prime
Timbo in his prime
Just blaze in his prime
Ye in his prime
Dre
Etc

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>that bullshyt you just linked up

But I will say drakes "the motto" is the dopest "function" beat I've heard...most of that other shyt sounds silly and cheap.

The motto is a BANGER

because the youngns out here only respond to bullshyt like LMFAO and Tyga. however peep some of Terrance Martin shyt, he's probably one of the only dudes actively keepin g-funk alive
