The music Jay-Z released doesn't resonate with them...mostly b/c they listen to trash, but also b/c some of Jay's music didn't age well.

The difference is, the previous generations gave props to the previous gen. before them. You didn't find many 90s rappers or 2000s rappers that wanted to shyt on the 80s rappers, instead they gave props for the influence and inspo.
