Why don't IG comedians get sitcoms?

Nearly all 80s/90s comedians had a show down the line (Martin,Bernie Mac,Damon Wayans,Eddie Griffin etc). I get times have changed but even vets like Mike Epps stay on tv

The comedian to sitcom pipeline is just about dead. People don't watch sitcoms like that anymore and there are more ways for comedians to eat because of the internet so it's not a prioritized path anymore

Just realized Abbott Elementary might be the only new sitcom that came out that's dope...




Sitcoms might just be R&B status, back in the 90s even B tier networks like UPN and WB had dope sitcoms, today not even the major networks have good sitcoms like that. Abbott is the only one I'm aware of.

It's crazy looking back that LL Cool J had his own sitcom when he was at the top of the charts. And it's not like it was doing Friends numbers, it was just another sitcom like it was normal. Brandy crossed over to the mainstream and was starring on Moesha at the same time, Queen Latifah had Living Single. Of course, Will started all of that with Fresh Prince.

Could you imagine a big mainstream artist having their own sitcom now? Like what if Billie Eilish was the star of a sitcom? That was just an everyday thing in the 90s.

Vast majority of these IG comedians and creators aren’t funny and just pump out volume. And if regular stand ups who post on IG aren’t getting deals then these cats definitely aren’t.

A 45 second video ain’t enough of a sample size and how do I know that these folks can even write comedy rather than doing so much physical humor.

Sitcoms are whatever these days and the real bread and butter is a bootleg Yellowstone style show you can drag out for 5 seasons on streaming.
