I can see why certain people like their music as supposed to why certain people dont...but i got to respect what theyve accomplished.
Well its a number of reasons…
First and foremost
their hustle is phenomenal. They got white kids from all over the world drinking Faygo, Painting their faces, and buying their merchandise. Really cool if you think about it.
But they never had a presence in the city of Detroit at all.
They claim to be from Delray (which is now literally a complete ghost town and was pretty empty even in the 90’s). Detroiters don’t claim neighborhoods except for a select few (Brightmoor, North End, Delray, etc.), we always claim street intersections (6 Mile & Dequindre, Mack & Gray St, etc). So we find it funny that they claimed Delray (a Black and partially Mexican area at that time) but never claimed a specific Delray block or had anyone from that hood saying they were from there or remember them being there. Which is strange. Nobody from that hood knows you? Something is off.
The first time I ever heard of/noticed them was around 2004. Some white kids in this suburban school I was going to (got kicked out of DPS) were wearing hatchet man clothing and they said ICP were from out their (the suburbs). I find it funny nobody knows these dudes not even in the suburbs, no stories from the 80’s and 90’s no neighborhood friends from back in the day, nothing. They are non existent in the city but were popular in the suburbs back in the early 2000’s. But even then the suburb kids would say they were from the burbs.
