Why don't Joe Manchin and Sinema just run as Republicans?

Its a jobs bill, not an infrastructure bill... A straight infrastructure bill without any of the other shyt would have passed already with bipartisan support.

Lol now this is something else. The GOP isn't passing anything Biden wants

I think the issue is that they are more concerned with staying in power and appearing to be bipartisan than the betterment of a democratic society. It is the same reason why Republicans are going with the Trump lie instead of standing up for what is correct.

Depending on how the future plays out, they may be viewed in quite a negative light in terms of putting their careers ahead of their duties as protectors/enactors of democracy.

Democrat policies help people and so it is VITAL for Republicans to filibuster them bc they'll NEVER be able to cut those policies.

Its like if democrats EVER give us Medicare 4 all, Republicans would NEVER be able to repeal it.

You mean liberal policies, not Democratic policies.

Establishment Democrats didn't want Medicare 4 All, Green New Deal, debt relief, criminal justice reform, free college, UBI, or living wage. All of that is liberal shyt that establishment dems are only reluctantly picking up in recent years and conservative dems still won't support.

Honestly since the big liberal shyt isn't going to pass, I think a best-case scenario for the Dems would be to just agree to an infrastructure compromise ASAP (another jobs boost and keeps it from gumming up the senate for months on end) then pursue a bunch of highly popular small bills as red meat for the public and dare Republicans to either join up or go on the record opposing.

#1. Compromise minimum wage increase in the $10-12 range
#2. Family Leave Act
#3. Prescription drug patent reform to depress drug prices
#4. Decriminalize pot
#5. Ban federal politicians from owning stocks
#6. Lobbyist reform
#7. Cap credit card interest rates

ALL of those would be wildly popular with the American public. And they're all relatively simple and relatively easy to sell. So as long as they got control of the Senate, better start pushing that shyt and forcing the Republicans to either support or go on the record in opposition.

Republicans would just oppose all of it, and I doubt it would hurt them at all politically as long as they're loyal to Trump.

If anything it would just hurt Democrats when 0% of that stuff passes.

All Democrats don’t support most of the things you proposed. Biden doesn’t support items on that list, and the GOP would obsruct anyway.

GOP would try to obstruct, but the thing is now that Dems are in control they can force a vote and put them on the record. McConnell doesn't run anything anymore, they only need 10 votes. I want every moderate Republican and swing state senator on the record as to where they stand.

I think every Democrat can be brought on board for #1 and #2 and probably #4 with work. I don't know where they all stand on #5 and #6 but with enough pressure I think they could be whipped into it especially cause the ones who oppose will look corrupt. #3 and #7 are the toughest because of all the health industry and financial industry money in elections. But if there are Dems who don't support, let's put them on the record too.

How would it hurt Democrats more to try to pass it and put their agenda on the table than not try at all? :usure:

And it doesn't matter if 40 Republicans oppose so long as you can get 10 Republicans on board. There have already been Republicans who have given vocal support to many of the items on that list, whether it's pot legalization or lobbyist reform or a moderate raise in minimum wage. So call their bluff on that shyt and put them on the spot.

Hell, you already have 6 GOP senators who openly fukked their Trump loyalty by voting for a January 6 commission. Trump loyalty alone isn't enough in Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Georgia....and I want people to be put on notice in Ohio, Texas, Iowa, and Montana. All the shyt I listed is POPULAR programs, populist shyt that polls at 65-85% approval with the American public. Why shouldn't the dems actually try to get shyt done?

I feel what you are saying, but the bolded portion is why those things don’t come up for vote. When you are in the club, they want to keep you in the club.

You couldn't even get 10 Republicans to vote to investigate the Jan 6 attack, I highly doubt they're voting for anything of significance that Dems want.

I guess trying is better than doing nothing, but ultimately nothing is going to pass and it'll hurt Dems either way. As far as Republicans, they vote against popular shyt all the time and it's never hurt them electorally.
