I think what OP might have meant to say is how could they not WANT revenge on the U. S.

I've thought about that before and yeah whether Japan started it or not, that retaliation was BRUTAL. Kids vaporized in school and sh!t.

And please don’t get it mixed, if what the USA was doing to Japan before Pearl Harbor was done to us, oh we attacking somebody. America had embargoes preventing Japan from getting much needed oil, metals and other valuable resources.

I think we all know if anybody gets in the way of our oil it’s :bustback:

I mean we just had a whole war over oil that wasn’t ours.

But what could Japan ever really do to avenge that? And then it would just go back and forth, and eventually Japan would be turned to dust.

Might as well let that sh!t go :francis:

They needed that oil to run a slavery powered industrial movement that was on pace to dwarf the trans-atlantic slave trade and to power the strongest naval fleet in history up to that point :manny: nobody was cool with that. Oil game now and then were very different.

The only reason Australia wasn't put out the fight completely was because that oil/rubber supply went short in the Philippine campaign. Starving Japan out was the only way to beat them tbh. The nukes were basically just a fast forward to the end of the war there. Unlike Europe, you couldn't just fall back on horse drawn supplies to continue a war of attrition like what was seen in Italy. Japan needed a mountain of resources just to keep what they had afloat.

Its safe to say the main reason that the US beat them in the Pacific was because of superior industry and a philosophy that allowed for efficient repairs and competently trained replacements.

They don’t have the moral ground given what they did during and in the time preceding the WW2. Neither does Germany.

Guess you can they were humbled.

I don't think humble has much to do with it. Both countries were literally rebuilt by the US and positioned as pro-US fronts against China or the Soviet Union. The Marshall Plan rebuilt West Germany and after the wall came down decades later, the unified country slowly returned to a powerful position thanks to US support.

In Japan, the US spent over 2 billion dollars rebuilding it. We even provided military security and re-wrote Japan's laws to prevent them from forming a defacto military. They didn't outright change their own laws to give them the right to defend itself/allies until 2014.
:dead:

That being said, their defense forces are now legit to the point China is upset about it. Point being...both Germany and Japan were destroyed/rebuilt to the point words like "humbled" and "vengeance" aren't in the vocabulary. I'm not sure there's much historical precedent for what happened there either, making it very hard to compare to anything else. Clearly it worked out for both nations, which are two of the most powerful in the world...and staunch US allies.

The Japanese weren't saints, in fact nobody were saints in World War 2 but the Japanese were on another level during the war and the years before the war. They started the war with America(could be argued America started it with Japan with the oil embargo but I digress) and were brutal to American POW's. Yes America bombed the fukk out of Japan even before the nukes but America let Japan keep their emperor and for the most part treated the Japanese with respect and helped rebuild their country. I'm sure the years after the war you had some of the populace wanted revenge and hated America but that generation is either dead or will be dead soon.

Also America has a bunch of bases and pretty much protects Japan from China and North Korea.

Humbled in that they were hyper militaristic in the 20th century and now, neither nation has a military to speak of. I mean we are talking about two completely different societies post WW2.

Basically as far as I understand things, it really wasn't the atomic bombs that made Japan surrender it was the fact that the USSR entered the war against them. The leadership elements in Japan at the time were anti-communist, so they chose to bend the knee to the States as it was their only other option.

White supremacy.

I think it's easier to swallow defeat from their standpoint to a white man.

Also they saw their Emperor as a divine figure and he threw in the flag so...

Not to mention those Nukes caused destruction unseen before or since...they took out 2 damn cities.

And don't get it twisted there are smaller movements over in Japan that despise America. You see the gif of that politician get stabbed with a sword?

That was because he was talking anti American rhetoric.

It's probably part of their culture to accept defeat. Those samurais and shyt dealt with defeat by killing themselves because of the dishonour. So they probably don't have a vengeance culture, it's more like if you lose, it's your own fault

nikka if Mike Tyson knocked your fukking lips off in a fight are you still gonna talk shyt or get on his program? I mean he did knock your whole fukking mouth off….

True, the psychological impact as well

A country nukes you twice, helps you get off your feet

That's a like a dad beating you up as a punishment then buying you McDonald's

Japan Might as well call US daddy :dame:

Just like how America have war mongering a$$holes that always want to start shyt but the majority don't. Japan was similar. Part of the population wanted to start shyt with everyone and they lost.
That loss then lead to reforms that benefited the country especially the poor

They are just “playing the fence” in being mutual with America. What ppl don't understand is that if a war was to jump off in this current modern-day there would be even more dire consequences than it was before.

Not only the two parties involved but the whole world, due to technology and the strength of nuclear weapons today it would possibly, wipe out nearly every human being and animal on this planet and we'd be back to living in the days of B.C. which is why a WWIII is very unlikely due to stakes being higher.
