RG3 would have been my black champion if he didn't privilege dopey white women, dismiss McNabb and refuse to amicably accept the black QB label. For me a ideal black QB is professional, doesn't privilege white women, takes black QB's advice (regardless of helpfulness), challenges the white orthodoxy and wins*. This is a difficult standard to reach, and neither Wilson nor RG3 nor Cam meet requirements. That said, some reach more than others.

Why would he accept The black QB label ? And what do his dating preferences have to do with anything ?

This. I got hella love for Russell and Cam. We talk up Cam a lot more because the media is always trying to tear him down. We have never really needed to come to Russell's defense. Another thing about Cam is that, at least for me, I connect with him and his style more than I do with Russell. Cam has a hip hop swag to him. Russ doesn't. So that's probably why people connect to Cam more.

I'll put out there that a reason that we loved McNair and Moon back in the day, despite not being "street", was because they were the ONLY black qb's around actually making noise in the league. Moon's era, it was just him and Cunningham. Then McNair held it down for black qb's on his own for awhile there before McNabb, Culpepper and Vick came in the picture. We rooted for them almost by default, whereas now we have more black qbs to choose from (Russ, Cam, Kaepernick, Griffin, Tyrod Taylor, Winston, Bridgewater). I'll say that we should be supporting all our black qbs though.

But this situation with Cam and Russell isn't new. We saw the same thing with McNabb and Vick back in the day
