let's just throw out the obvious, that you hate everything about USC.

David Geffen didn't go to UCLA, and he's donated hundreds of millions to UCLA.

nobody popped that " but he didn't even go there, Why did he give 300 Million in the last 10 years" excuse about that.

Why are you holding Dre to some imaginary standard?

i swear, y'all always got flack for rappers giving money to good causes instead of fukkery.

Same logic had them backwards ass women at Spelman protesting Nelly showing up for a Leukemia awareness/donation charity event.
I don't have nothing against USC whatsoever. I enjoy their football games.:manny: And with me -throw the whole "he should've donated to a HBCU" thing instead out the window.. cause that would never ever happen in a million years. I'm just wondering for all the shyt and getting screwed over this guy went through with Jerry Heller and Easy at Ruthless and at Death Row with Suge Knight and now to give away a third of his fortune to a school he never even went to. his kids don't go to. I get John Singleton giving 5 mill to USC, cause he actually went there and is very successful. that's beautiful. But $35 million???? Do you know how much money that is?? To give to a school with a $5 billion endowment:what: And David Geffen is a billionare breh. bad example.

-But I digress, its his money. He can do whatever he wants with it. It just screams that Iovine made him do it. Dre is a leader and visionary. I would expect him to start his own shyt, build his own school. Oprah and Tyler Perry, both of whom I'm not the biggest fans of, build their own shyt(studios, schools) constantly. But Its all good though. It just doesn't make sense. $35 million out the window??:scusthov:

Sure it does. He just made a ton of money when HTC invested in his Beats line. He netted somewhere around 100 million bucks and got tax on it heavily. Much like he gets taxed on the other money he makes.

It is quite possible it is a huge tax write off for someone who made a lot of money to support a school in his community (LA) that can support a program of this caliber using the proximity to the entertainment industry in the area to fully maximize involvement.

Dr. Dre is a human first and a black human second.

USC is in his hometown and where is money will most likely be utilized to the max.

It's not really speculation that he made 100 million (Forbes reported it) and that he is required to pay taxes on it.

Rich people donate money all the time to lower a tax burden.
I was talking about the USC program that they are starting and how its close to Hollywood and all not that he didn't make $100 million

Breh, Dre is worth $350 Million, that's a tenth of his net worth... and Beats Electonics pulled in over $100 Million last year...so it's not like he can't get that back pushing overpriced high end fashion headphones

David Geffen is a good example, billionaire giving 300 million in the last 10 years to a school who's endowment is half that of USC's...and never went there... even if he's a billionaire, he's given what Dre's net worth is, in the last 10 years...and will probably give 2-3 times it, in the coming years.

Dre has already started his own shyt tho, rappers weren't really in the tech world like that, before those headphones took off.

yeah rappers had video games, apps or a sponsorship for a product..but nothing on that type of level.

Dre has the right idea tho, instead of personally creating the next Snoop,Em,50,Game or Kendrick... he's putting his money into an academy that's intended to be the breeding ground for the next innovative thing like facebook or the iphone.

not everbody listens to rap, but facebook and smartphones have changed the way our world works.

Like I always say cool y'all wanna tell Dre or the next man how to spend his money cool but what would even be better is for y'all to get rich like Dre or whoever pockets y'all in this week and show us how it's done. That is the better thing cause otherwise you sound just like these if I had you know I would nikkas that never have it. Ain't nobody trying to hear a shytload of shoulda, woulda, coulda bullshyt. I mean most havent donated a fukking dime but think they can speak on others. shyt is crazy and it's a bad way to live life cause honestly I think it holds you back cause it seems like cats looking for hand outs which should always be the last option not the first.

I went to a HBCU and wouldn't donate 35 million to one so naw I ain't mad at Dre.....knowing HBCU's that 35 million would go straight in the president's pocket and on homecoming events :deadrose: right after donating 35 Ms, Dre find out they want him to perform at homecoming with the rest of the NWA members, and everybody on his albums
