Howard is definitely getting my LS application.
What would be even better news would be an uptick in HBCU enrollment alongside an uptick in Black college application, acceptance, and enrollment in general.
They could work in more programs like Xavier of Louisiana have, where they bridge the gaps between high school and college work, especially for students from poorer or disadvantaged backgrounds and schools.

Xavier LA is a good look. Famu for Doctorate is a good look as well.

Non blacks get minority scholarships. When I was at Howard last yr I saw a ton of Asians, and at other schools the number of Hispanics have increased greatly. Pretty much other groups see it as a solid way to get an accredited degree, and often with more relaxed entrance requirements.

Exactly. HBCUS stay building new freshmen dodorms. Pretty much get a big boom in revenue every yr and then half the kids transfer or drop out. My freshmen class was the largest at the time and only a third of us graduated. And every yr after mine was a "record" freshmen class.

A family member of mine just got a gig in the Howard admin so, I'm def going to be paying attention to these things. I'm happy for the numbers but what alot of people don't realize is these HBCU's need these enrollment numbers to be high because they need the Sallie Mae and other govt financial aid money that comes with it. This is not good though. Student tuition should not make up a large portion of a school's revenue, that's if you subscribe to the David Swensen (Yale's CIO) school of thought
