I saw her bit with Maya Rudolph and I just cringed. Nothing but second hand embarrassment.
. a lot of these chicks screaming blackgirlmagic only want a certain type of black woman seen. how is tiffany a stereotype? i know plenty chicks just like her
And that's a bad thing? Yeah, most people want to see themselves being represented in the best light possible. The loud, ghetto black woman is a longstanding stereotype. The women who actually act like her IRL are already overrepresented so it's not like she's filling a void.
It's obvious the reason white media is pushing her so hard is because she embodies the only kind of blackness they're truly comfortable with: simple, nonthreatening and buffoonish. And it's even better that she's attractive because it makes her more palatable to folks who would've otherwise tuned out sooner.
I was watching a show the other day and the panel was talking about the Oscars and a white dude squealed with delight at the mention of her name.
"She's just so REAL!" Then you have a bunch of other white folk talking about "it's refreshing" that she can
be herself. All that coded language tells me is this is how they think 100% of blacks
really are. You know....when they're not being uppity. It's blatant as hell.
