Why has L.A & NYC Progressed, but Chicago is still a ****-Hole?

from the 3 biggest cities in the country who were ravaged by crime in the 1990s, L.A. & NYC has relatively progressed, but Chicago is still the worst city in the country in terms of mass violence with gangs, shootings , etc...

Chicago went from over 900 murders to 400 something.
That seems like an improvement to me.

If you knew about LA you would know the hood is still the hood, and know that just in the blink of an eye, a gang war could turn shyt up real fast, easily getting a hood 30+ homicides.

Chicago's not as popular as the coasts (LA, NYC). For alot of reasons. It's in the Midwest, cold as balls and it doesn't have any media presence (Hollywood lifestyle + Times Sq./Wall St./Sex in the City lifestyle) glamorizing the city to would-be new residents..

If it was as popular...


*dilapidated areas (west & south sides) would be gentrified
*rents would rise around the city as wealthier residents moved in
*pricing a lot of the "undesirables" out of the city limits
*a wealthier tax base would increase the public services around Chicago
*better schools, infrastructure, more police ---> less crime with a few bad neighborhoods scattered in small clusters in areas of the city FAR AWAY from the city core

Chicagos murder totals are in the low 400's now when just 10 years ago it was 650's and 10 years before that it hovered around 1000. It just seems worse now because those morons stack like 10 bodies a weekend when it gets over 80 degrees and instead of spreading it out over the week like normal cities do

NYC soft now cause a whole lot of rich cacs have moved into the city. Thus pushing out the blacks to the suburbs. Its gettin to a point where its cheaper to live outside the city than in. A whole bunch of the famous dangerous projects and ghettos or NY in the 80s and 90s are either drastically changed in demographic or not even there anymore.



Some projects in the city are still rough as fukk tho. Its funny cause Im more than likely moving to the south bronx after im done with school. One of the most dirtiest and grimest places in NY. Simply cause I cant afford to live anywhere else.

Things have definitely improved but the gangs have too much pull here for much to change in the foreseeable future. The city needs to move beyond gentrification to be honest too. They put up condos in the most strange locations. Could be a collection of like 3 or 4 condo apartment buildings then there's nothing but shyt holes for miles in every direction.
