This is despite the fact that spending on police budgets has gone up almost 180 percent in the last 40 years, and the fact that the general murder rate had been trending downwards up until the pandemic.

Cameras cover nearly every inch of the country, especially in the cities. If they really wanted to they could solve damn near all the crimes that happen. Especially shyt like murder and kidnapping. And every once in a while they’ll show what they’re capable of by using the cameras to track someone from the scene of the crime to wherever they’ve run to.

First 48 will have you thinking everybody committing crimes is dumb as a rock

“Now listen Shawn, we know you did this, just confess and make this easier for both of us”

“I aint even mean to kill him man, I was just trying to rob him”

“Oh…ok…that…that actually worked”

I used to like that show. Then I saw an episode....fukk those pigs. I hope they get merked live.

A dude got murdered, and they call his wife to the scene and the pigs are like "You're his babymama?" "No, I'm his wife" "Oh ok, Sarge, his babymama is hear, we need to talk to her..."

The entire episode them cac pigs were snickering and calling her his babymama when that was dudes wife and mother of their 2 older kids, I think one was 11 and the other was 9. Dude was married, lived in the same house as his family and them pigs showed no respect.

It should be mandatory to live directly in the area you police. I can see how that can lead to gentrification and mass conflict of interest though.
It definitely makes a difference. If you know you gotta see the same people when you go home it hit different

The real reason at least where I am is the staffing. They haven't had the correct amount of detectives for at least 5 years in Cleveland. They'll pull detectives off other assignments and put them in the homicide division and then once they actually have to do the work they're overwhelmed with the backlog of cases or have PTSD from the constant death.

There was a case a few years ago where a 13-14 year old mentally impaired girl was kidnapped at a bus stop less than 1/4 mile from a police station. An officer found her body in an abandoned home while they were doing searches in the area. She had been raped and was naked folded up in the corner of a closet and was stabbed through the eye with a screwdriver. That officer went on leave for months and I think they might've even retired after that.

They don't make enough for people to want to deal with that on a regular basis.
