Why have we been in such a terrible QB era when league done nothin but make it easier for em to put up stats and protect em?

All around receiver play has declined. These new receivers drop balls like Verizon drop calls.

Herb throwin 10 yard slants at 100 MPH ain't on the receiver.... He had Keenan most his career and now McHonkey look like he got it. We actually in one of the strongest WR eras ever....

Jetta
Chase
Tyreek
CeeDee
BTJ
Davante
AJ
Nico
London
Evans
Moore
Amon-Ra
Sutton
Diggs
Puca
Kupp
Higgins
Metcalf
Pickens
Keenan
Wilson
Jeudy
DeVonta
McLaurin
Ridley
Waddle
Olave
McHonkey

So nah we not doin that and blamin recievers. Actually truth be tol a lot these WRs be makin a lot of mid and washed QBs look way better than they actually are.

For all we talk about Purdy, at least he doesn't turn into a fukking bum when it matters

I think a lot of these new QBs are coddled frauds. Never been through nothing. Didn't even have to sit a year out to transfer so they either were handed a school, or left to start at another. Played on stacked teams with 5-6 weapons on the offense. In weak ass conferences.

These dudes lack HEART

Nah we are going to blame recievers. Do you watch the games? If not look up the drop numbers.

Defenses have caught up with offenses. Which is great!!! I hated that one or two seasons were folks were bombing 5K easily

What about the year before lol. Point is, Purdy made it to the NFC champ and then the Super Bowl.. He doesn't go from good to bum. He stays at good. I'll take that over this roller coaster ride, thinking you have something, then watch the qb turn into a pumpkin every year

Why are yall revising history again?

Justin "top 5" Herbert

People been callin him next Marino LMAO. Sayin he top 5. All this shyt. Been to playoffs twice....

One of the biggest playoff chokes ever, blew 27pt lead
14/32 and 1 TD to 4 PICKS the next

Jordan Love top 10 QB....

The next Packer great....

0 TDs to 3 INTs

These 2 of the top 10 QBs of this era :francis: many been sayin Herb top 5 for years now too :mjlol:

We used to shyt on Phillip Rivers but he is so much better than almost any QB today. shyt besides Mahomes, Josh, Lamar, Burrow he better than anyone else in the league today. Rivers was barely top 10 in that era of actual strong QB play. Game gone sad.
Do I need to remind you how Marino had his own multi-interceptiom games?

Phillip Rivers went a decade without winning his own division :dead:

He let Tebow win it in 2010 :dead:

And Alex Smith eat a couple times :dead:

You keep on ignoring the era. Rivers played much of his career in the 2010s - when defenses were legit at an all time low. Single-safety high, blown coverages, and pass interference being called WAY more. Defenses were playing catch up.

Nowadays defenses have fully caught up.

Even then, I see you willingly ignore Allen, Lamar, etc.

When was the last time this many teams were happy about their current QB though?

Like the saints browns raiders titans and giants are the only teams I know for a fact that will be looking for a new QB this offseason.

Something that is definitely not helping is OLine play seems to be at an all time low

The amount of good OLine players being drafted and developed is being far out paced by the amount of good Edge Rushers and Interior Pass Rushers
That’s felt on the college level too…OLs have been as bad I can recall. Georgia and Alabama are fielding top 5 recruiting classes consistently while having average to below average OLs multiple years in a row

The Gen X and older Millenials had a huge advantage.

They all began playing football when rules were more "even" but by the time they hit peak, the rules were softened for QBs. It's like playing a video game on Very Hard and then sliding it back over to Very Easy.

These younger QBs have only ever played with the modern rules. Defenses have adjusted. They can't make it any easier for the offense.

QBs have more raw talent but aren't learning the nuances of the position. Half of em can barely take a snap under center without looking awkward. Most are uncomfortable throwing into tight windows. Back in the day, most NFL-caliber college QBs played on very good teams but not necessarily winning nattys. Now it seems like a lot of the QBs with NFL potential play on the best teams.....so they learn to play with a MASSIVE talent advantage.

As much as defenses have improved, imagine what today's defensive talent would be if it had the rules of yesteryear.

Anyway, if I had to guess... it's because of the possibility that making it easier for QBs to put up stats makes it harder to actually determine who is good and who is benefiting from the times. And because of the QB position being overvalued, teams are reaching for guys who either aren't good or aren't ready to immediately contribute, and then those teams expect them to immediately contribute without taking things into account such as coaching, ideal scheme, etc.

I've seen too many games nowadays where quarterbacks have struggled to put up 150 yds passing.

All I know is if the Eagles wind up playing the Lions, Jalen Hurts is gonna have to be successful in the passing game. He has threats all over the field
