It's just hilarious to me how cooking, cleaning and the such are considered as some kind of slaving when women do it, but if a man was a stay at home dude who only had to cook three meals and keep the house clean while the woman was at work all day and paying all the bills, he'd be considered some kind of leech or loser who is lazy and "isn't a real man".

In a world were over 60% of Americans don't have 1,000 in savings we are talking about if a single income should cover rent/mortgage. I'm often reminded of that great sage Bunz from the movie belly "put the weed in the bag first and then get money" unfortunately no matter how people feel about this issue it's damn near impossible to think that a single income can float two adults especially if you are trying to save and progress up the financial ladder.

I just ended up in one of those LSA threads about "not dating down" and I was surprised by how many women echoed the same sentiments as the woman in OP, because I don't actually come across women like that in real life.
Perhaps I've just insulated myself in a microcosm of women who are ambitious or heavily focused on gender equality across the board; but this ridiculous belief that men should be "the head of the household" without a robust return to women's traditional gender roles is hilarious to me.

Ive been living on my own now for almost 10 years, I never had a late bill or problems getting shyt paid. I taught women how to cook, I have no problem keeping my spot clean it not a chore for me. If I decide to live with a women I dont see why Im a bad guy for asking her to pool her share of her money so we can get shyt done whether its investing or going on trips I have a chick im currently seeing in her feeling because I'm going to Morroco at the end of the month talking about I should take her with me but she don't have vacation money

If u have taught "women" how to cook and clean, and these were the women u chose as partners...
and u want them to pay for half of shyt and to pay for theyre own trip wit u. and they chose u as their man.

It's a very old mindset that she has, in post-Recession salaries and careers for American Black Men aren't hitting 6 figures or close to it (which is what you need to live middle class with kids and a mortgage).

Being a stay-at-home spouse is lazy and actually embarrassing for anyone that is an adult.

And since we are keeping it real, the kind of man who could pull that kind of scratch and allow his woman to chill at home and do nothing isn't going to be checking for a 40-year old woman.

He is going to get a 22-year old foreign joint to build a family/legacy with. The OP needs to change her ways, otherwise she is gonna be cat lady.

because this is very clear and straight forward about why most men in this society disagree with a woman not working, paying half, yada yada..
But if u read it carefully, the type of woman described, "sit at home, lazy, doing nothing".... isnt an indictment on that woman... its an indictment on a man who would choose a woman with that mindset, if she was given an opportunity to not have to work.
There is so many things that a REAL WOMAN will occupy herself with, to support u and ur household, if given a chance to stay home. Things that u as a single man would value, now that u dont have to do them for urself. She could also be bettering herself in education, so that she can teach ur future children. This is very important because i feel like our children are better off homeschooled. The educational benefits to teaching our own children, what we need and want them to know, at the rate we want them to know it, is super important. I can go on and on about the benefits of having a woman mainly staying in the household.
But let me get to the 2cd counter argument that i keep reading... The arguement that in today's society we need both individuals in a household to work.

We have a problem in this country of not living at our means. You wont make it with 500k a year if u don't live at ur means.
If Ur having big willy dreams or especially if ur lady wants the bmw's and trucks, and wants to take all kinds of trips, to diff islands every year. Youre going to need her ass to work, and trust me this is the reason why the divorce rate is so high, because ppl like that are never SATISFIED.
Be humble, get ur mind and finaces right b4 u get a woman
...get a humble WOMAN, who was raised with all the tools and knowledge to support a Real Man.
...Live at ur means. If she clips coupons, shes probly a keeper... if she sows, shes probly a keeper. Support her going to school. she'll have time for her studies and make sure ur dinner is ready and house is clean when u get home from a hard day.
when she graduates...her potential now, along with the work ur already, doing makes yarl UNIT 10x stronger, and capable of doing great things.
