like i just explained what you are doing is combining low skilled workers and skilled workers, it is true that low skilled immigrant do not displace most native workers, but they do displace and reduce wages of low skilled native workers
You can't displace someone that doesn't pursue the same position as you and businesses decide the worth of what wages to pay their employees. Not immigrants.
so your statement is correct in an overall sense, but it is not correct when its applied to the specific demographic of low skilled workers with low education
I am speaking on the specific demographic. And I'll say it again MOST native's (including African-Americans) do not pursue the same jobs that low-skilled immigrants purse:
In fact African-Americans are not as negatively impacted by low-skilled immigration as you would like to think:
Moreover, when one considers how immigration affects different groups of American workers who may be the most likely to compete with immigrants, the positive story still holds true. Research finds that as immigrants enter the labor market, African Americans respond to these changes in the workforce by moving up to higher-skilled—and presumably higher-paying—jobs. In fact, African Americans are three times more likely to transition to higher-skilled jobs as a result of immigration than non-African American workers. Recent evidence similarly shows that an increase in immigration of the magnitude implied by S. 744 would increase the earnings of more educated Hispanic women and men by 1.1 percent and 2.25 percent, respectively.

and all those win win type of descriptions of immigration all do that by ignoring or downplaying the impact on low skilled workers
Some low-skilled workers are impacted but the margin is much smaller than suggested.
but it is a factor, you are trying to say that it isnt
I'll rephrase that then, Immigration's impact on wages is a small factor that African-American's should not be making themselves so overly-concerned about.
im not assuming any such thing, all im saying is that the law of supply and demand applies to the labor force, and a flow of low skilled labor will have downward pressure in wages
And having a shortage of laborers willing to work jobs that no one else pursues dries up businesses and jobs and that's neither good for the economy or African-Americans.
yeah, and?
that's more reason why its a lie that we need low skilled immigration
See above post
and you cant stop people from stealing cars either, that doesnt mean you shouldn't enforce the laws
I agree that there should be a comprehensive law to deal with illegal immigrants that come into the workforce.....excluding deportation (in some cases).
what i am saying is that immigration laws should be enforced as opposed to giving amnesty to ilelgal aliens and increasing the flow of low skilled immigrants
Well there are people who have been here for years illegally and I think it would be a serious waste of tax-payer money and time to try and find and round up every single one of them, enforce the law, and kick them out.
If they've been working, paying taxes, avoiding serious crimes then the illegal status should be removed because their efforts have granted them the pardon.
