Why is a staredown after a play considered a technical?

I mean it's no contact and it's not like cats haven't been doing this in street ball forever. Seems to be the immediate whistle blower when it happens after a play. Example:

And "cats have been doing it in streetball for forever" probably isn't the bar we should set for professional athletes.

It's the kind of thing that if unchecked, can easily escalate into something much uglier.

It was the 1st one that came to mind. I remember when Bron swatted that shot from Curry in Game 6 of last year, and gave him the look and some words, I don't think he was called on it

The nba is soft.

These leagues just tryna take the spark & bravado out of the game. Less seasoning more blandness.

Can't point at a nikka after a vicious dunk.

Can't shrugg your shoulders at a nikka after a vicious dunk.

Can't laugh at nikka after breaking his ankles.

Appreciate the responses in the thread. I did my Googles, there is a shyt load of what they would call tech fouls. Most seem to be based around unsportsmanlike conduct.

I really haven't kept up with basketball like that until recently so some of this I ask questions about. This one got me when I 1st seen it...

I hate that there are no stare downs. I think they're really watering down the game, this is competition. It's not just something that's been in street ball, this has been in the league for a long time.
