Why is After Earth getting so much hate?

It was pretty clear from the previews Jaden Smith had lengthy screen time. People were hating....HATING on the movie well before they found out it sucked. Most people didn't even know until late in the game that M Knight even had anything to do with it and that was mainly because Will Smith's name usually trumps everyone else's. The thing is, if you see that Will Smith is in a movie, people just assume he has top billing. Them going into it thinking it was all about Will were responsible for their own let down. It wasn't like they pulled the sh!t they pulled with Channing Tatum in the G.I. Joe sequel where they acted as if he was gonna be a main stay in the movie only to find out that initially he was killed off anyway. People just assumed because Will was in it, it was all about him. Will doesn't diversify in that way. Partly because he doesn't have to, even if a great role is staring him in the face. SEE: Django Unchained.As far as the Scientology sh!t, no one can even say if that was legit. Just because they had a volcano in the background doesn't mean they were trying to brainwash you. That was some sh!t that people hid behind on the internet, but don't act like the main reason aint the real reason. People hated the fact that Will was putting his kid on. I don't know if they just don't care for Jaden Smith or they just don't like the idea of the rich getting richer but no matter how good or bad this movie was, the hate was going to be there. Just to be clear, I'm not defending the movie. Trying to compare this to Pursuit of Happyness falls flat because no one was gonna hate on a 7 year old kid. Who is gonna be out front leading that charge? No one. But now? Sh!t now he is a full blown celeb. The hate is on. Just do a forum search before the movie ever came out. Google lets you trim the search by date. Go search that movie on various movie message boards and any other social media you can find and see if that hate wasn't palpable.

If something is good, the majority of white people will support it, even if it's all black. At the end of the day, white people are entertainment seekers.
That goes for movies, music, sports. White people will walk into an all black setting/audience if it's something entertaining they want to watch.
If it's not racism when millions of white people buy rap music, or make athletes millionaires, then it's not racism when they don't like a bad movie.

Bruh, we are talking about regular folks. Not people spending all day on FirstShowing. They heard Will Smith was in a new movie. That overshadows just about everything, except when he has his son in the movie.

Never saw Epic, but Ironman 3 was so much better than Man of Steel.
The end fight of Man of Steel bored me to tears.

It's not like I'm alone in this. Man of Steel's box office dropped 70% between opening weekend and this weekend. People aren't feeling it.Not the right tone (too dark) for a Superman movie, and the fight in Metropolis was so poorly scripted.
Movie wasn't even bad. It was just average or so, and predictable. I enjoyed it though, and I watched it on cam. The end where he "ghosts" was solid filmmaking how everything came together. The worst part of the film was the accents, and they were wildly inconsistent with them.
Did you bother to read it? I was referring to two different groups of people. Casual people who knew nothing of M. Knight directing and then people in forums who were hating on the kid. I swear....n!ggas on this forum. SMH. 
Breh, it's 2013. There is no "regular folks". 85% of the U.S. has high speed internet now. M. Night being attached to the movie was known to anyone that went anywhere related to movies for months prior to the movie coming out.

at acting like this was some kind of secret. So people are confused. It's not racism. The only reason people gave the half a fukk they did, was because of Will Smith. The movie flopped and got shyt on because of M. Night.
